It has been announced today that Colin Seeley has passed away.

His name will live on as a byword for excellence. I have no further details.

As a lad in the 60's I remember seeing pics of gorgeous looking Seeley frames and bikes in the weekly motorcycle 'papers'.

 

What about the frame he built for Mike Hailwood's Honda 500?

Yes, I remember this well, the frames were a byword for excellent design.

The Yamsels were a dominant force in the hands of John Cooper and Ken Redfern when I first went to watch racing as a kid, and I remember being in the paddock at Cadwell admiring those lovely monocoque 500 Suzukis he built for Barry Sheene and Pat Mahoney, it would have been around 1973, I've often wondered if any of those Suzuki's survived and are hidden away anywhere, he might have built 3 in total as I think Stan woods rode one too.

I did a bit of research last night and answered my own questions above, it seems only one bike existed, i'm sure I saw two at Cadwell but the other must have been Sheene's conventional Seeley framed 500.

Also it appears that the bike does indeed still exist and is owned by collector Phil Morris.

I saw it in the paddock at Chimay in 2018.
