An enthusiastic teenager from Australia covered a bit of ground around the Glen the weekend the IMSA Sports Cars came to town.

Apologies for the average camera work!

A pity that a lot of those shots, especially at the S/F line, are no longer available due to the high cyclone fencing which surrounds much of the track. Yes, I know that safety and insurance demand it, but nonetheless---

The images are nice, they give the view a spectator would have. Kinda like being there....

Another pair of enthusiastic Adelaide spectators (and a bit older than teenagers) at a bit earlier Watkins Glen meeting, 1975 GP.  Could be in the same camping area as shown in a couple of shots above.  Nearing the end of a trip relocating from Vancouver to Toronto (via Pikes Peak (nearly), Baja Peninsula and Mexico City).

Darn Glen fans... hanging in the mud... yelling in unison "The Other Side Sucks"... banners with "Show Us Your T*t*..."

It never ends with you people...     ;)

If that red March is Randy Lanier, it doesn't take a mechanic to deduce the source of all that smoke.  :smoking:

It’s Skeeter McKitterick in a March 84G Chevrolet! (I think that was the car I ended up collecting a patch of bodywork from)

I am still working out who that dark haired bloke is.

Looks vaguely like some grey haired  and bearded Clubman driver I have known for decades

Getting down is easy. The hard part is getting up.

The little known, only available in Canada, Ford Econoline Tardis model had, as you say, a built in elevator.  Designed to provided access to the roof top garden but mainly used for easy egress when the car slid of the road into a deep snow drift.which was, of course, a common occurrence in Canada.

Sure, but the landing really hurts.

I remembfer going to the Glen in 1978 and seeing the same blue sky across the lovely Finger Lakes landscape from our grandstand seat. It was just after the Petersen crash at Monza and Jarier drove the second Lotus 79. After Andretti failed he really flew showing just how superior the ground effects 79 was.. Then he failed and the two Ferrari's ran n 1 - 2.

I told my wife after Jarier stopped " Ferrari's never fail. Just then Villeneuve blew his engine ( IIRC) and coasted past us!

A "little blue pill" might help.

With a dose of "Gosh" and even some "Gee Whiz," I find it best to ignore this one. :-)
