A few things I am willing to bank on.

Racing point to struggle, clearly behind Ferrari, mclaren and Renault. Seb is finished and they cannot copy the merc again.

I agree that I do not expect Vettel to shine again.  He is spiralling down to retirement IMO.  But won't all the teams have the 2020 cars with minimal updates so Aston Martin will have the same relative advantage in 2021 as RP had this year.  I expect some podiums, maybe even by Vettel.

Well it wasn't Ocon and Ricciardo together as like Webber said Dan pretty much carried Renault in 2020.

"Mark Webber thinks fellow compatriot Daniel Ricciardo “carried” the Renault team throughout the 2020 season.

Mark Webber is the chairman of the Ricciardo Fan Club so take it with a pinch of salt.  Nothing to do with both being Aussies of course....

Maybe but he also doesn't always agree with everything Dan says or does either. Besides that though was what he said wrong about carrying the team this season? Pretty spot on really.

Aussie hyperbole. What he actually meant was that Dan did a much better job than his team mate, I'm sure even Webber wouldn't claim that Dan was responsible for the progress on PU and aero. Mind you, he'd be a good hire if he was!

Danny Ric and this current version of McLaren are like a match made in heaven.

I might even be tempted to buy some merch for the first time ever. Mind you, you nearly have to mortgage your house for a pair of socks, so I might just look, and moan about the prices as usual.

Its true, I bought and still have a Vodafone Mclaren fleece (the nice dark grey one with silver shoulder pads)... for about, £45 back in the day (which was effing expensive then!) - this must be over 10 years ago now. Looked before Christmas for a similar item... £125!!!

I mean, I get Macca need cash... but fluff me!  :stoned:

Yep, and we have to pay shipping, +10% GST (for import) on top of that. Maybe I’ll find someone going to Melbourne and sling a few clams their way to grab something for me.

Where do you live?  Many people from my work (in Sydney) go to Melbourne, so I might be able to help out... depending of course how border closures affect all that...

Team apparel has always been stupid expensive.  I won't pay over the odds for something that is advertising for somebody.  They should pay YOU to walk around as their billboard.  But it is the same in football where the mugs cough up for a new team shirt, and the 'away' team shirt which both change every year.  I also decline to pay top dollar for 'designer' gear for the same reason.

I have only twice bought race branded stuff.  I picked up a very nice Jaguar jacket at Brands Hatch years ago - it was reduced because they had gone to Silk Cut and it was in their old dark green and white colour scheme.  Very tasteful and sold for standard price for a jacket of that quality.  I also bought a Goodyear cap at Silverstone in the euphoria of Mansell's famous victory - it was the sort with gold laurel leaves on the peak too and wasn't expensive from a trader who I think was just clearing his stock.

Thanks mate, that’s very kind of you. I do have a mate who goes occasionally too, so might be able to rope him in, if I have a moment of weakness.
I’m in Tassie, and the stuff would probably get wet coming across the Strait. Unless you didn’t go that way of course. ;)

I’m with you, BRG on the walking billboard thing. To be honest, I think a lot of it looks bloody terrible.
When I was young and silly, I did lash out on designer wear, but rarely do that now either.
One of the few things I have with motifs on is an Ardbeg jacket, and most people wouldn’t have a clue what it was.

He lost taste and smell apparently. That can linger, so I hope he makes a full recovery quickly. One of the reports said he was in a bit of hot water over this. Is that just sensationalism, or was he not taking the right precautions? Hopefully it is the former.

One of my goals for the new year is to try not to judge others, so I will refrain from too much criticism, but it did seem a bit off that he travelled from a tier 4 area in the UK to go on holiday in Dubai - if that was indeed the case as has been purported.

I've got exactly the same symptoms back in September. Frankly it did not affect me at all besides that I didn't have any beer those days - could not feel the taste anyway. So it was even a good thing in terms of my cash reserves.

Yes! It was terrible. Jokes aside it wasn't the only COVID-related loss for me, unfortunately, but personally I get out of this pretty nice,

This isn’t really McLaren related, but good news for us Aussie viewers. It looks like the race start time will return to 10pm, instead of 11:10pm. Hopefully it will lessen the chances of me dozing off mid race...🙈

Well I am genuinely sorry to hear that.

I was discussing this with a friend who is in the UK today, and I felt sorry to say that with the world going to crap around me I personally had a very good year last year, crazy that I should feel bad for that, but it's never far from my mind just how many families have been torn apart by this terrible disease....

Indeed, I also lost my sense of taste and smell back in April. My sense of smell is still not back to normal and I'm not sure it ever will be...  :stoned:
