So they didn't finish the car in time for their press release? Is this just a rumour or is this established as a fact?
Also wondering if this is symptomatic for RF1 processes.

read on a dutch newssite that the car was not ready, which is why they´re only showing some pictures?

If this is true which is more than likely, It would be such a shame for such a brand like Renault.

They did fight tooth and nail for constructors points at the back end of last year - but even at worst they could've released a 2019/2020 hybrid. I think the lack of a launch is deliberate, surely?

The car was fired up ten days ago.
The fact they did not show render of the front of the car is interesting.

Maybe the part that wasn't finished was the actual livery.
Perhaps linked to the rumour of a big new sponsor.

Most underwhelming 'launch' I've ever seen.
The hell is with those silly angled black renders? Might as well just show an MS Paint doodle. Cracked me up .

They have not much to show I conclude

I'm sorry, but why have such an event with nothing to show? Is this Drive to Survive S3E1 material?

How can you see the Merc nose from the renders released??

Think the way the nose tapers in on the bulkhead appears to be a Merc or McLaren style nose. Yeah I am hoping they are hiding some things and the car is actually competitive.

The car is on its way to Barcelona currently according to Cyril Abiteboule.
coming from Cyril, this could also mean it's currently being build in the factory..

Not a good sign imo. They told us 2019 that they moved the power for 2020 early. And now - no new car just the illusion of it. Time for a big change? (poor Daniel...)

5 days (in case they're doing a shakedown before official testing) on the road to reach Barcelona?

So that’s it for their launch... why even call that launch. F1 should fine the team for misleading statements... that’s utter nonsense. 10million euro fine for utter crap and spread it evenly amoung the bottom 5 teams for being stupid.
They did not call it a launch in first instance but a "season opener".

Strong contender for F1 2020 (the video game).

LOL! I'm going with this also. I really hope that they are in good form for RIC's sake. Sadly the gut is tell me differently but I really hope it's them being ultra cautious.

According to Prost, they could not throw the 2019 car in the bin because of 2021 changes but they have changed the aero concept.
The main weakness according to Prost last was aero stability, the RS19 could loose up to 4 tenths in one corner, this will be acid test for the car.
According to Ocon, the car may have the same base as last year but everything aero wise is much different.

The car is 55mm shorter than 2019.

I personally think event was not needed under any circumstances. But given how bad actually Renault is in this kind of events this is huge step forward in presentation as funny as that sounds. Even when you dont actually have car to show for. Still miles better than putting fake frankenstein cars and introducing it as new car, better than fake frankenstein renders which look nothing like a car they introduce in Barcelona.
I will save my opinion about the car look when we actually get pictures of full car on track. I was personally so disgusted at last year car performance I dont expect anything from this one. Personally I dont expect anything more than fight with Toro Rosso's at best for 6th. To be anything more than that it needs to be fast from day one on tests and put most of tests days top 5 times.

What a bunch of crap and attitude.. then don’t freaking give out trader pics with that stupidity if you worried about how everyone is going to notice how undeveloped it is.

Interesting with what looks like it could be a Merc nose. Hope they are just trying to keep everyone guessing as late as they can. The start of this season can't come soon enough!

What a bunch of hog wash from Cyril. Contradicts himself in same thought.. 1st the car is still being built and then in prices then, if you optimize it’s done to last minute yet it’s off to Barcelona. If you want to see, take pictures there.

They will shakedown the car on monday, hence why.
I don't see the whole point, of being fussed with that press conference.

Most of the cynic comments make me laugh. Wait until next week mr. armchair experts to judge the R20 and the team.
Once more: this event was the season opener. Team called it this way from the first announcements, just check precisely their tweets.

What was the point of it though? Why not just do a pitlane jobbie like lots of teams have done over the years? Seemed like a completely pointless exercise to me.

Exactly. Smells of rotten eggs. Hope they don’t screw up like Williams did last year at the 1st test..

They're on the front page of Autosport with a picture of a CGI car that has their sponsor names all over it, maybe that's the point? They'll be back up there again when the actual car gets shown as well.
I agree with some of the latter thoughts in this thread, I'm baffled by the negative reaction to this. You'd think people had lost something personally going by some of the reactions here and on Reddit, it's just a press/Q&A conference who cares?

It was still the 5th best car last year so that is not the worst baseline to work from, it had some weaknesses but if they can start to address those then there is no reason they can't reclaim 4th.
Overall this season feels like a bit of waste of time for anyone other than the top 3, why would go to the expense of developing your 2020 car for it all to go in the bin the following year?

Can't beleive how defensive Cyril is being. I'm surprised a CEO could get so worked up about what social media has to say about a trivial thing. Honestly not just this, but I am convinced the problem is that this is a man that doesn't perform at all well under pressure.

I wonder how he reached the present position in a company like Renault. He seems both insecure and incompetent.

They should have either released the renders like many teams do or not other doing anything and launched the car in preseason testing instead they organize an event about something which does not exist in the event inviting unnecessary media scrutiny and social media ridicule. I am not going to speculate as to the competitiveness of the car just that the official noises coming from Renault appear to be one of having given up 2020 even before the season has begun.
