We hope. I'm quote optimistic for this year, I think we'll take a decent step forward - where that will be in relation to the top 3 and midfield, is the big question as always.

I thing its gonna look amazing, after troublesome design back in 2018, Pat Fry joined relatively late (September) and they managed to sort it out. This one will be long in development, and probably much better car than MCL35.

Cautiously optimistic about this car.

Apparently the MCL34 was designed in a bit of a rush since they could only really start after they understood the aero problem the MCL33 had. So, this could be the closest to normal development that they've had in some years and that alone could provide a small boost.

Of course, F1 is really about relative performance so for all we know other teams could have done a better job. We'll only start to get an idea of performance once testing starts. Last year in winter testing the rough pattern was that we were best in S1 and worst in S3 - basically, we were relatively faster through the fast sections and relatively slower through the slow sections. By the end of last year, apparently most of the gap was in the slow speed still. So, one thing to look out for during winter testing would be how well we go in S3 in particular. If there's a big gap and it doesn't change much over winter testing I don't think that would be a good sign.

Specific predictions for the MCL35? Well, I've argued before that I think a good area to focus on would be shrinking the rear as much as possible because that should carry over to next year. Side-pods too perhaps. You could think of these as "fundamentals". I still remember Mercedes boasting a few years ago about how they gained a few tenths by shrinking the rear. It's a lot of design work but the long term pay off should be good unless there's ever radical changes to the diffuser regulations, which I think would be rather unlikely.

The generally signalling from the team was that the MCL35 will mostly be an evolution but also they'll take some risks in some areas. So it'll be interesting to see what areas change fundamentally, if any, and which simply evolve.

i expect the shoulder of the sidepod to be more like rb here.Sec i expect ferrari/rb15 style sidepods, scarbs air intake and then will be interesting if they will go more conservative with front suspension ala rb and ferrari. Last year mclaren almost aligned the upper wishbones with the top pushrod mounting point, to get more frontend maybe theyll go a more conventional route. And the offcourse agressive pou

Maybe an updated nosecone and more slim rear due to more experience with the pu

I expect to be all hyped for the new car and then to find out that we are 2.5 seconds off the pace at Melbourne and fighting for Q2. But for now I still have hope to be proven wrong.

SO far teams have copied what Prod has been working on.

Now in combination with Key, I truly hope to see the new generation, new horizon, excellent base to develop for coming years.

Let's hope McLaren will see where it is and what to be expected.

That nose looks horrible from the front, the matte paint doesn't look good either.

I mean, it was always going to be hard to improve on what was - THE best looking car on the grid last year. I don't like the orange halo, but it looks good.

I like it. It feels like they changed the livery to give sponsors more exposure, which can't be a bad thing

God damn matte paint. I want to murder whoever invented it. It has no place on this earth, let alone an F1 car.

Geeeeeez GREAT!!!

Side pods are great, but what I love is the front end of the floor,.... Venturi!

Nose looks a looooooooooot better than that Red Bul.

The rear end is sooo smartly done. I hope this will beat RB16...

Let me dream about it...

Looks a lot nicer on those studio shots/renders, but preferred last year's livery.

I don't like the not painting the tip of the nose/trying to hide the shape etc though.

Definitely the most aggressive and in-line with the top teams the McLaren has looked for a good few years.

Ehh, I dont think the rear end part is going to be so good, the orange part in particular, it looks too big and flat compared to for example the RB.

Also they seemed to drop the uber-complex nose for a more simple one.

Other than that it looks good, like an evolution of the last year's car

Looks gorgeous! Outwash front wing, very compact rear and a very skinny front wing. Certainly eye catching.

Much simpler than other cars

If McLaren wants to win, they need the budget of the top three

Either way, they are improving fast

Interesting looking car. I also prefer the livery from last year but I guess it is easier to see the sponsors with this one. I prefer painted Halo's but I personally think the car would look nicer with a blue halo.

Real life image, much more compact rear, probably 2019 launch spec wing. High front suspension, also boomerang wing looks like 2019 launch spec.

I think it is part of the design. Sidepod cut underneath it massively. They are going to different route than RB. Their sidepod is also not like old RB style, like 2019.
