Like a few others on TNF I went along to the 1972 BOAC 1000km at Brands Hatch; not a thrilling race, perhaps, but I loved it. The Ferraris were in control, despite some early pressure from the quick Lolas, Chris Craft in particular. I don't remember any great threat from the Alfas, which were steady, but not particularly fast. And the weather.....crisp spring sunshine, which made a pleasant change from previous years. Good job too as we were camping.
There are plenty of still photos around but I don't think I've seen any film of this race, which may reflect the dwindling interest in 1972 following the end of the 5-litre era. The smallish crowd will have contributed to John Webb's decision to cancel the 1973 event which, in retrospect, was such a shame. Matra versus Ferrari at Brands in 1973 would have been superb.

Far from silent and far from Sebring! Think you must have pasted the wrong link, John.
Nevertheless, this all looks terrific - I shall look forward to giving it my fullest attention later!
