I'll be there all weekend promoting my Ginther book but also helping with Darren and Kevin's Tom Pryce book too.

I'll be in Hall 2, stand 260 for the vast majority of the weekend. But there's quite an impressive live stage lineup and the Chevron stand looks good so I hope to find the time to wander over there.

Looking forward to meeting many people this year

There on Friday and Saturday - I'm "performing" on Saturday (11.00 am) doing an interview about Lauda on the back of the Competition History book . I should also be on the Hortons stand from 12.00 on Saturday - please come and say hello!

I'm going for the first time, on Saturday. I'm thinking of getting into the historic racing world as a job (building and prep) so interested to talk to some companies about that.

Looking forward to it.

Been for the last few years so won't miss this year. Saturday for me - looking forward to buying Richard's Ginther book and no doubt some other readable material on offer.

Well. Been going for a looong time and can't recall it being so 'thin' before. We went round twice today to be sure we hadn't missed a hall and left by 11am. There also seemed to be a lot of dead space. I'd be interested to hear what others think.

Talking about not promoting anything, neither am I. I can be found tomorrow somewhere near Hall 2, stand 260, where Richard Jenkins’ excellent new book on Richie Ginther can be procured

We enjoyed the show today.  Although some previously always present exhibitors were absent this time (VSCC) and smaller vendors offering things like historic photos seem to be slowly trickling away.  I am pleased Chaters and Hortons were still there as it is always nice to be able to browse a lot of good books!

I enjoyed my visit today, too. Many enthusiast shows ( of all types - not just motor sport ) are declining in size as inflation bites and costs escalate, but even so there was plenty for me to look at.

It was a real pleasure ( and great fun )  to meet up with John Aston and Jon Saltinstall who did indeed sign their books for me ; true enthusiasts both, we could have talked for much longer ! Great to see Chaters there with their 'sale' shelves ; took me back to the Racing Car Show days at Olympia in the 70s. In fact, Race Retro was quite extraordinary for the quantity ( and quality ) of books for sale ( at widely variable prices ). I'd intended to spend virtually nothing and came away with two carrier-bags full  :well:  - I just couldn't resist things like Argetsinger's Mark Donohue photobook for under £12, Tremayne's Rindt biography under £20, and a first-edition Studio Vista copy of 'The Cruel Sport' for a tenner.

All in all, a fun morning out - and well worth the trip up from London.

It was great to see so many TNF friends old and new over the last couple of days at Race Retro. Chatting with everyone was an absolute delight and pleasure - sorry if I went on a bit!

Thanks too for all for the messages of support and the positive comments about the Niki Lauda book - and even more thanks to those who purchased copies or brought their own along for signing. All this has been an unintended consequence of when I started writing it, but a very happy and welcome one!

That was my impression too. Stalls seemed to be moved to 'better' locations, as the numbers have dropped.Still worth visiting for now, although it means an almost 300 mile round trip for me. I'm keen to support it, on the basis that we'd miss it if it wasn't there

440 mile round trip for me but I do have a press pass and I do Friday for the stands and Saturday morning for the rally cars.   Yes some stands missing and to many trailer sales stands in the main halls.  Years ago they encouraged club stands and it was just about affordable as we did three years with NESCRO but no way now. The rallying was dominated by HERO which is only for the rich.

There were far too many rally cars on the demo stage. It would be nice to have fewer but better and some cars were being driven so slowly that I suspect that the owners had never actually competed in the past.

Little surprised by the cancellation. The other shows like the NEC went well as have some of the rally demo events.  I wonder if there is another reason?

I believe works for the new HS2 railway line are happening close to the Stoneleigh showground, if not passing right through it.

Crickey, so it is!  Right between the halls and the car park, and, just to add insult to injury, there is work scheduled at the entrance to Stoneleigh on the very weekend of the show:

I didn't know anything about this, so excuse me if I'm finding it fascinating.

Here's an image from the "fly through" of the route from Birmingham to London.  I've annotated it to show the public car parks for Race Retro on the left and the halls on the right.  I can see this is going to have a major bearing on Race Retro in the future.

There’s room to park everyone on site rather than in nearby fields, as they were doing up to a couple of years ago

Last time I went, I had to park in a different time zone.  And pay a small fortune for the privilege.  Could never see why they couldn't park cars near the actual exhibition site.

Race Retro 2023 is just five weeks away, on 24-26 February.

I'll be there on the Friday so do say hello.
