Martin Read, known to many of his friends as Cream Bun, died of a sudden heart attack recently.
He acquired the nickname from Dr. Harvey Postlethwaite, when he worked for Harvey at Walter Wolf Racing. Harvey noted that Martin frequently arrived at work with a large bag of cream buns.
The Bun (he adopted the moniker for his e-mail address ), was one of the best design engineers, and worked for a number of racing organisations, including Hesketh, Wolf, Williams, Tiga, Schuppan, Panoz, and Premier, as well as Ford (on the Lincoln town car). He also did much of the drawing for the Hesketh Motorcycle.
His funeral will be held on February 28th, in Bournemouth .
