I ALMOST bought Forza 7 just to do IndyCar livery mockups with (since I also run a fictional fantasy racing series with a handful of friends it would have been really cool), but after learning that the editor only allows for everything to be constructed from scratch... never mind.  Much too labor intensive.  Hats off to PAYR for the effort, which I surmise took considerably longer than Anja spent on doing the original design!   

 

I hope they'll come to their senses in the future and allow for images created outside Forza 7's editor to be uploaded and overlaid.  Just makes TOO much sense.

That is a frustrating downside of the livery editor. However, there is a great community which has produced (from scratch) just about every logo you could possibly ask for. The only problem is that using other people's work means you can't share your design.

I think it's about time we start planning for this year's edition.

 

Most of all, if anyone has any suggestions for changes etc, now's the time to voice them.

 

And I know it's supposed to be my honour to organize it again, but if someone is willing to step up it would be welcome - I might be kinda busy soon and I'm not sure how much time I'll have for the competition.

I think there should be a rule that we can't just use a company's colorful logo and blow it up to full car size to make that the livery.  I was beaten by 2 such entries, and I am not amused!  So there!!

Seems like no one has anything to add so I'll have a go. I remember that there was a fairly popular proposal to split the competition into two categories, serious and comedic, and I think we could try that this year if people are still on board. The way I see it we'd have the design/entry part just like always, but with two sets of votes separated into these categories. The comedic element was always an important part of this whole thing so I'd like to have them as equal, not just an additional contest next to the main one. Of course that would mean two equal winners. What do you think about that?

 

If there's no objection or other proposals that's how we'll be starting, some time next month.

One last question. Would you be very mad if we went back to having only the F1 template? I'm thinking it might be good to simplify this particular thing to balance it out with the expansion into two categories - two templates and two categories might get a bit too chaotic. Plus we'd have to update the Indy template with an aeroscreen or find a new one. I'm currently making some tweaks to the old F1 template myself but that's already at the limit of my abilities.
