Just a bit of a light hearted topic now, as things around the world unfold with this terrible virus.

Say all motorsport was cancelled, and you could bring a more obscure sport/activity to the mainstream, and have it replace the timeslots for F1, what would it be?

This is meant to be a bit tongue in cheek, so be creative and have a bit of fun with it, show fellow forumers something that you think would keep people entertained.

Only rule is, it has to still involve some form of racing...

Here's my vote!

Don't mock, but I know three of the people featured in that video.

UCI downhill mountain biking racing is already the only other sport I watch live.  But those are getting cancelled/postponed as well  :well:

If 2020 F1 and mountain bike races are all cancelled, I will just watch replays of classic races from either one

There's only a limited number of Only Connect episodes available in the UK. I'll have to figure out what else there is.

Probably old race broadcasts of CART, IMSA GTP or similar that lurk around the quiet corners of YouTube. Or rewatch every FE Race to date, they’re all available too...

Easy one. Might not have time to watch the race live, but I'd go for the highlights:

Stupid cat videos

When watching such items on YouTube, time seems to pass more quickly - it'd be 2021 in no time

We did that at school. My entry came 4th (it would have been higher if it were not for one of the other entries trying to mount mine half way down the course)

Typical racing driver excuse.

There's a reason why I haven't cancelled F1TV yet. Old races.

It really ****ing sucks that F1 and football won't be around this time when we need it the most to lighten the mood. Comedy shows might be a solid alternative, to get in those laughs we'll miss from the socialising. Will probably re-watch Archer from the beginning again, maybe try to get into Seinfeld.

I have all of the 2019 F1 races (except for France and Spain) and numerous ski races on my HD, but when I am tired of those, I think I'll watch reruns of "The Great British Baking Show".

Already bought a box set of series 1-5 of Michael Portillos ‘Great British Train Journeys’

At a mighty 3365 minutes long it will not be the work of a few evenings!

But to be honest I’ve got a load of stuff to watch that I’ve had for years and just never got around to watching so it’s a good reason or actually start working though the massive backlog I’ve got. Still never watched that F1 2014 season review nor a load of others... and I’ve got all the Le Mans reviews from 1980-2001 on the back burner as well. And that’s just the tip of the iceburg.

Benny Hill being chased by angry, scantily-clad women. That counts, right?

Sucks that both football and F1 will most likely be cancelled. So, I most likely will watch old TV shows, and hope that the competitive scene of the videogame I follow doesn't get cancelled as well.

Id say the Premier League but sadly if the one goes I fear the other will. Being a massive Liverpool fan it’s just like us to dominate the season that won’t count.

Just some light entertainment. Might start with a movie. 28 Days Later, maybe. After that I might binge watch a series. The Last Ship wasn’t too bad. No idea why these two come to mind, any clues?

Methinks I’ll buy myself a PS4 or something to keep myself busy. I’ve also yet to pull the trigger on a Netflix and Amazon Prime subscription too. Might as well use a free trial if I’m stuck indoors.

I have several books I need to finish on my Kindle so no real concerns here.

Loads of podcasts and records otherwise.

Bit gutted there will be no Euros. I finally got tickets to an international tournament after years of trying. And my Jarvis Cocker gig is looking pretty shakey as well, along with Formula E. But somehow I think I will survive quite easily (if the virus doesn't kill me, like).

What will be a killer is if this garbage weather carries on into summer. I at least want access to the garden!

This. My backup plan has been scuttled. So, I'll be watching the beautiful beaches of Krabi. I don't exactly lack for options at present.

I’m not sure where you are, but in Australia Eurosport carried UCI, and FIS etc., except Foxtel recently dropped the channel from its lineup.

esports.

There is a ton of great racing with F1 2019 game you can find on YouTube.

It's often better than the real thing!

Also check out the iracing channel. Not F1 but really good.

I used to race my own snails.  I experimented with aerodynamic improvements, specifically removing the shells.  If anything, it made them more sluggish.

Since I don't like watching non-live sports or esports, I guess I'll be able to watch ~300 instead of only ~250 movies in my neverending catching up this year.

Basically everything I've missed up to date especially:
- every Indy 500 rerun on ICS YT channel
- every old WRC highlight from 90' and 00' I could find (and I've found a lot of them)
- full CART races from season 1995 - 1999
- highlights of NASCAR races

Online sim racing is the obvious replacement for watching F1 races, but the excitement of sim racing might make it hard to go back to watching real life racing again. You can be either a spectator or competitor safe at home. Video link below has Norris and Verstappen in a public online race.

https://www.youtube....h?v=32a-MHsD5nc

An alternative is FPV model racing which could be aircraft, cars or even hovercraft. It is easy to stream the live video  feeds.

As usuall

Indycar from the 80s and 90s powered by youtube

And WRC from 90s and 00s also powered by YouTube

Nothing changes for me.

From the magnificent prison sitcom Porridge...

Ives: Venables has cracked down like a ton of bricks ever since the Earwig Derby.

Fletcher: Earwig Derby?

Ives: Yeah, the Earwig Derby.

Evans: Earwig Derby, yeah, tragic, that.

Fletcher: What's the Earwig Derby, when was that then?

Ives: Last earwig season.

Fletcher: Oh, was it, well, then.

Ives: Organised by Grouty of course, very much on the lines of the Jockey Club. Handicaps, eliminators, and then in September, the finale... the Derby. Eight yards across the laundry. The whole prison was on. Until of course Mackay finds out.  How, we never knew.

Fletcher: What did he do?

Ives: He put his foot down.

I read that with Ronnie's voice.  They don't make sitcoms like that these days.

I will upload my racing games footage on Youtube so others can watch them (to compensate the lack of racing action).
