Er, Heinz-Harald? Just lit up the tyres and overtook Mika Salo in the pitlane!

Coulthard is over half-a-lap behind Häkkinen.
He's a Bottas

He's a Bottas
What's a Bottas?
David's been quicker than Mika in the past, I see no reason why that can't happen in the future. I think this current car just doesn't suit him. Next year will be his year.
There you go, fastest lap for Coulthard, see he's got potential.

Ah, we're in the "unless something pretty catastrophic happens to Mika Hakkinen" zone. Words telegraphed into the far future of the 2001 Spanish GP.

I suspect that's the first and last time I'll ever think about them!

Can you still get this in shops? Feels like a very on-trend 1998 reference.

There's something quite cruel about these "sit awkwardly in your race gear and go back over how you lost the race" press conferences.

I found the battle for third between Williams, Benetton and Jordan fascinating and this race showed it off brilliantly, with them fighting tooth and nail for ‘best of the rest’. Jordan had a bit of a below par weekend here actually because the trend was in their favour - but in reality, they got into the mix more by dint of their Spa 1-2 than anything else didn’t they? I think of the three Benetton clearly had the best car, and it was a shame they didn’t maybe have the drivers in hindsight to make the most of it because especially early in the year, that car could easily have mixed it.

Benetton started the season really well but then dropped back. In the last seven races just one point.
It might be argued that Goodyear improved their tyres during the season compared to Bridgestone which probably explains part of that.

The 1998 season was my first where I followed every race. I saw the odd GP from 1995 onwards but from Argentina 1998 I was an absolute obsessive fantastic. I remember being disappointed after this race. I really thought, when Ferrari looked out the front row, that the path was clear for brilliant “underdog” (yep, really) Michael Schumacher to win the Championship ahead of Hakkinen, who I viewed an inferior driver in a better car. Hindsight has changed my view somewhat - but I’ll always maintain 1998 was an absolute high water mark for Schumi’s brilliance.

I think it's very possible that 1998 was the best season by Michael, I followed the whole season closely. Ferrari got up to speed in the latest races, but sometimes it was absolutely nowhere.
He was extremely good in 2000 as well, but by that time Ferrari has closen the gap (although I still feel Mclaren was a better car).
He was brilliant in 1994-1995 as well, but opposition was weak in those. Although still remarkable, given that he had inferior cars.

Was late to the party (as usual) but what a great choice of race. Even included some classic Brundle. Of a backmarker being lapped by the battling leaders: "It's a Minardi, actually Murray, but it doesn't really matter."
