Shocked to learn of the news that the grave of Ronnie Peterson was vandalized in his hometown of Örebro, Sweden. I wish they will be able to catch the person who did this terrible act.

Was it just his grave or was it several? I wonder why this was done? Was Ronnie Peterson Jewish?

According to the Nerikes Allehanda news paper there were four graves vandalized and Ronnie's (and Barbro's) headstone was also fallen down, at least the photos shot at the cemetery tell that story. According to the news there were indications that for some reason Ronnie's headstone was especially targeted. What ever the reasons and whoever the persons behind this despicable act, it is in no way acceptable. I feel sorry not only for Ronnie and Barbro but also their daughter Nina, Ronnie's brother Tommy, their other family members and friends.

There was a similar incident on that graveyard on June last year too, but the Peterson family grave was not targeted that time.

PS. Neither this attack or the previous seems to have any anti-Semitic motivation behind it.

I really don't think that I am, by nature, a violent man.

 

But sometimes one reads a news story which makes the back of the neck flush hot, and one's fist slam on the table. This does that for me. What piece of scum could do such a thing...in any graveyard, to any grave.

The Peterson grave might not have been targeted specifically but again it's one of the more well known and such will create more "shock"

4-5 others were targeted too and a few came much worse off, hopefully the Peterson headstones have not suffered any lasting damage.

 

No one have been arrested for the THREE different attacks last summer either, none of the graves damaged this time was targeted then.

Like last time it have been reported to the police but there is an open question how much effort they will put into the investigation.....

 

The grave of the11 year old girl (Ebba Åkerlund) who was the youngest victim of the Stockholm truck terror attack in 2017 was vandalised numerous times.

A 59 year old illegal immigrant was late convicted to 2 months in prison and extradition to Poland to serve a 2 year sentence there for a separate case.

Ebba's father tried desperately to bring this to the police's attention but they informed him they could do nothing, until the grave had been vandalised it 30 times!

 

The sentencing did not include a life time ban from Sweden and the perpetrator is free to return to Sweden after he's served his sentence in Poland...

Ebba's fathers was desperate at times and posted this on Facebook in November 2018.

 

Hopefully the latest case in Almby will be resolved with more efficiency by the police in Orebro.. Sooner rather than later!

I can only agree with the comment  Ronnie's brother Tommy (who I met in person back in 2006) made :

"Man slutar aldrig att förundras över hur människor är funtade"

i.e:  One never ceases to be astonished how (some) people are wired.

There have been cases of vandalized graves I read about in our local newspaper. I never understood why what idiots do something like this and what they get out of it. All I can think of are some dumbass teenagers that want to show off how brave they are.

Not in any way am I excusing the perpetrator's actions, but some people are able to separate actions and consequences, sometimes that's a good thing, though mostly it's bad. I doubt if the person who damaged Ronnie's grave even knew who he was, his death was a long time ago, and this kind of thing is usually an thoughtless act by a bored teenager, who other than the fact that Ronnie's name might have stirred some vague memory in his dull brain, understood nothing more than that. I've read a lot of WW2 memoirs, I recall one by a Battle of Britain Spitfire pilot who shot down a German bomber that crashed not far from his aerodrome, and with some colleagues, went to view the wreckage. He was deeply shocked to see dead men's bodies still being removed from the twisted Dornier, it hadn't really occurred to him that as well as destroying planes that were bombing his Country and killing fellow countrymen and women, he was also killing the men inside them, young men serving their country, just like him. I suppose you'd have to say that was a good disconnect given the circumstances. As an example of a bad disconnect, a fairly local teenager was recently imprisoned for dropping heavy objects from a bridge onto cars moving along the dual carriageway beneath, as far as he was concerned, it was entertainment, just a game. The cars were nothing more than fast moving brightly coloured objects, to him it was like one of the computer games that took up hours of his time, he'd never given a thought to the fact that he could have injured or even killed any occupants of the cars, though fortunately, he didn't.

 

I do realise of course, that this explanation doesn't help us in any way at all, but I doubt that the actions of whoever did this were in any way aimed at Ronnie, Barbro, or the occupants of any of the other graves he damaged. What's the answer? Sorry, there's really nothing I can suggest, though if this has happened before in this particular graveyard, maybe some thought should be given to CCTV cameras or the like.

In our country we used to have consequences for such actions, but no longer. Horse thieves would be hung from a tree just outside town. Not many horses where stolen. The complete lack of discipline has empowered thieves, gangs and most importantly politicians.

And that's a pity. These reptiles probably think that Covid 19 is the worst thing that's ever happened to them. I can only suggest that they don't ever knock on my door. What a cunch of bunts.
