I think Murray made himself laugh by saying "flat bottom" there. It's been one of those days.

"The fighting Brazilian"
Is that a reference to Hockenheim 1982?

There's a reason why Damon Hill claimed that as he won the 1996 Japanese Grand Prix and became world champion, he couldn't keep his mind off what Murray would be saying at that moment.

Imagine if F1, as an April fools joke, doctored the race footage so that the result appeared to be different? Like if they'd left out Mansell's puncture, spliced in some other footage of him, and commentary from Hungary 1992, and made Mansell world champion.

They should've shown 1985 and seen how long it was before people noticed.

This race is such a good example of Prost going fast while looking slow.

Better than going slow while looking fast.

If I were Enzo Ferrari I'd be rather disappointed that my car was being beaten by a Tyrrell and a Ligier.

I'd imagine that Enzo is rather disappointed whenever his car is beaten by any filthy garagiste, including Williams and McLaren.

I reckon Keke could have got that back to the pits.
Why did he stop and retire for a puncture?
Rosberg heard the rubber flailing against the bodywork and assumed that his engine had failed.

Prost does it, and stops the car immediately!
Prost ignored his fuel gauge - which indicated that his tank would run dry - in the final laps, knowing that Piquet would catch and pass him if he eased off too soon.

That was fun! And nobody mentioned that the very next day saw the deregulation of the London Stock Exchange.

Twice Murray referred to both Arnoux and Prost as "the little Frenchman". Somehow I doubt he'd utter the inverse, "the big Frenchy".
I really need to know about a big French F1 driver now.

That was the last Grand Prix for Keke Rosberg, Alan Jones, Johnny Dumfries, Patrick Tambay, Allen Berg, John Player Special, Carl Haas and his team.
It was also the last Grand Prix before I was born.
That was loads of fun and hopefully provided all of us with a bit of an insight into a different time of Formula 1. I hope the F1 youtube channel will grace us with other classics from that sort of time.

This guy too. Not a driver, but it's hard to imagine F1 without him.

That is correct.
GoodYear had said that tires would last the entire race. Sadly, drivers found out that was not the case.
Speaking of tires lasting the entire race - with Formula One currently looking to become 'eco-friendly', that is something they should be looking at.

Having quali beforehand really adds to the atmosphere. It's a travesty they don't archive qualifying on F1TV.

We tried that. Had a great season of F1, fans however hated it.

Rosberg was later told that his brakes were almost gone at the moment of his DNF so he escaped potentially big shunt.

This race was really quite pivotal for the final career statistics of the three drivers who duked it out for the WDC. Mansell could have reached two titles at the expense of Prost ending up on three with Piquet also on three (unchanged). It also could have allowed Piquet to reach four World titles with Prost getting three and Mansell still on one. Very slight changes in fortune (e.g. Mansell pitting for tyres in time, or Piquet not pitting) could have made a difference.
