F1 is keeping it recent for the Saturday-afternoon broadcast not decided by public vote.

The 2018 Chinese Grand Prix featured a tense Mercedes-Ferrari battle before a mid-race safety-car period threw a spanner in the works and some late-race battles and collisions.

Still remember the brilliant teamwork by Vettel at the start...

This one was fun! I'd actually completely forgotten about it too. Couldn't even have told you the winner without a few minutes to think about it.

That was Vettel’s signature move during 15-18. It still brings smile to my face when I remember the outrage which came when Vettel’s teammate in Monza finally decided to stop being a pushover during the starts...

2017, 2018, 2019 have completely blended into one for me. I don't remember, what happened. Well, certainly 2017 and 2018 were very similar. Mercedes and Ferraris up front with Red Bulls occasionally mixing. In 2019 Merc advantage was more profound, though Ferrari won some at the end of the season. Of course the seasons of 2014, 2015 and 2016 create another "blend".

Conversely take the 90's or 2000's and memory is much more clear for me. Seasons and races are memorized and don't get mixed up.

Apparently, I rated this race a 4/10, and that feels just about right so far. Why was this worth rewinding?

Oh bog off with all these races from like last week already! Why are these worth rewatching? Not being funny but I think anything from 2014 onwards shouldn’t be included. There’s no novelty, no nostalgia, and most of them are boring to boot. Got literally zero interest and I’m aware that this was one of the better ones, at least in the closing stages. Show me, at earliest, one of the races from 2012 or 2013 instead, they’re long enough ago and far enough removed to actually be interesting. Rant over.

I know what you mean Messy but having turned this on I've realized I do definitely miss F1. Even though I don't have Sky. Grumble grumble.

I'd love to see some races from the 60's-80's.  Far too many of the ones they are showing are from the horrendously boring "hybrid" era.

There's what looks like a complete 1968 British Grand Prix with English commentary on Youtube. We could have a go at that one, might be a weird experience as I wouldn't have a clue how to tell the cars apart.

I wholeheartedly agree with this thought. Nothing from the hybrid era should be included since they are too recent and not that interesting. If they are going to show it, at least show Hungary 2014/15 or Canada 2014.

However, my guess is that F1 feel obliged to show these races in order to keep the current formula relevant. They don't want to send out a message that recent races are boring, and the true classic races are from the 80s/90s.
