Why-You-Love-Online-Quizzes-825x500.jpg

After the warm reception for yesterday’s first ‘Quarantine Quiz’ I hereby present to you Round 2 of this boredom buster for the extended off-season.

The quiz will be open until 8am on Monday (UK time), after which I will post the full scores along with the questions with the highest right & wrong answer percentages (if they are of interest to anyone).

I will make further quizzes if there is continued interest to help pass a few minutes of your day.

Enjoy - any feedback appreciated 👍🏻

17425 points. Made some simple errors. I think people can beat this score quite easily. The questions are not that hard, but fun none the less. Great work FirstnameLastname! Very much appreciated!

Trying not to spoil... The question about drivers of a team isn't clear about what "elsewhere" means.

Was too eager to answer quickly and fell flat on my face a few times. Not very happy with my score of 12021.

Great idea, nice quiz, thanks for the effort!

14605. Had a good streak at first but once things went south I started making stupid errors.

It was very fun, nice variety of questions, really well done! I'm definitely up for more.

Dead last with 5200-ish points I think. Guessing the right years was the major problem, as was recognizing that McLaren logo  :stoned:  Great fun though

Good quiz; enjoyed it. Am currently 11th - think I could have been a bit sharper if I hadn't had a couple of beers :p

Thanks for doing this again, these are fun.

I'm 10th for now with 18150. I'm still pissed off at missing the safety car question!

Good fun. First few questions thought it was quite easy, then started tripping up.

Screwed up the safety car question too, went for the obvious trick answer like a right mug.

Thanks for the diversion. I scored so-so at about 10,000. Some of that stuff was way before my F1 fandom. Good fun!

8th.  Got the first question wrong and that totally borked my points total.  I then got something like the next 20 right and was further away from 1st.  There must be some bonus for correct runs.

You can't win the quiz on the first question but you can certainly lose it

Very nice quiz!

Not alot of 'who cares!' tedious stats based questions that dominate alot of other such trivia

There's a bonus for getting multiple correct answers in a row, but your points are mainly affected by how quickly you answer.

These days google/smartphones can ruin quizzes... quite like the limited time on the questions to avoid that, and the ‘more points for answering quicker’

That said, the leaderboard doesn’t really differ depending on how many questions you got right vs the ‘points’

There is an ability to give more difficult questions a higher amount of points, but I’ve kept it even for now.

PM Slartibartfast and beg.

The quiz itself is timed out so even if I linked you to it you'd just get the results. That's why FirstnameLastname was encouraged to post more here, so the rest wouldn't miss out.

There's a bonus for getting multiple correct answers in a row, but your points are mainly affected by how quickly you answer.

If I have it correctly, you get an extra 100 points for each question you get correct in a row, to a maximum of 500, which is 50% of the usual maximum score per question.

So I do think points are largely affected by when you make mistakes. If you make 3 mistakes it doesn't matter if they are the first 3 or last 3 questions, but in either case you will have a higher score compared to someone who spreads out their 3 mistakes evenly over the quiz, for example questions 6, 12, and 18. This is even the case when you're a few seconds slower in answering every single question (if you lose roughly 50-100 points each time), and in some cases the timing of a mistake might even offset the cost of an extra mistake.

A bit of a shame in my opinion. I think it would be fairer and more fun to remove this streak bonus.

But for ensign14: if you're gonna make a mistake, the first question isn't a bad one to do it with   ;)

Could have done better - definitely should have recognised the Ferrari in the picture near the end, for instance. But kudos to a lot of the players here; some very knowledgeable fans. I'm blaming my relative youth for some of it.

Oh - and I loved the ITV theme on opening screen. A throwback to my childhood.

Is there any way we can get to see everyone’s scores? I only seem to be able to access the Top 5.

A 4-way tie for the win here, with ‘NullException’ taking the spoils on points difference.

Lots of folk taking part this time round, Thankyou very much for that. I will throw together another quiz either tomorrow or Wednesday.

I’ve included some of the lowest scoring questions along with the highest scoring - for anyone disappointed with their score, find comfort in knowing that someone thinks Ferrari is called They Dancing Donkey’ 😂

The first use of the safety car in F1 was at Canada 1973 and nobody knows to this day who the real winner of the race was - it was probably Emerson Fittipaldi.  Because the organizers lost track of the lapcharts and decided that the race leader, on deployment, was Howden Ganley in an Iso.  Which would be a bit like deciding the race leader to be Giovanizzi.

It was so confusing that they dropped the use of the safety car for two decades. And when they brought it back it proved fatal.  But good for ratings.  Yay.

I wouldn’t have expected a lawyer to throw the word proved around so loosely.
