Reading it now. Fascinating stuff Richard has uncovered and as before with Richie Ginther, things will have to be rewritten about Mike!

54 years on since Mike so sadly lost his life at Indy. Such potential that seemed to be coming to bear fruit.

RIP, Mike.

Sadly, Richard let me know this morning that Lynne, Mike's widow, died last week.

After Mike's death she went back to South Africa and went about re-building her life. Happily she met Dai and with him had two children who brought her much happiness. They moved back to Wales where, during lockdown, I was able to have a couple of quite long catch-up chats on the telephone. What with the on going virus troubles and the trains, I never got to see her again.

She told me that to begin with she was anxious about the book but since it had been very helpful. So, well done Richard.

Richard let me know that Lynne's husband's name is David Martin. [Just for the record]

Thanks Loti

She was indeed doubtful at getting involved in the book but was soon fully committed after meeting Richard. Painful as it was, the exercise proved extremely cathartic for Lynne and cleared out many of the awful memories from that time.

She was the most amazing companion, mother and grandmother as well as confidante to anyone in trouble.

I will miss her terribly after 52 wonderful years together.

P.S. I didn't know she was SA Go Kart champion at 12 which might explain why she insisted on going around a big double roundabout near here on two wheels every time!

Spare a thought for Mike today, May 07.  Now 55 years gone and missed.
