Here's a virtual race feed YouTube for y'all

I have absolutely zero info on this other than the race is at 2:30 EDT/ 19:30 BST

Qualifying is supposed to be today and no sign yet of MakeYouPicksâ„¢ ?!?

But in the words of Sgt Schultz...I SEE NOTHING...I KNOW NOTHING

IndolentCostlyAmericanratsnake-max-1mb.g

Hopefully, we can see something of qualy from Newgarden or Simon and Ben on HughTube and PLEASE, post whatever you find in that regard.

But for now...refer to the stupid meme above.

In the meantime here's a pic of IMS on an early race day morning taken by Karen Gillian

PS.. I did this on my phone and am very impressed with myself.

Well, indeed, thank you Jared (and JP). But I wonder why none of the usual twitchers are doing their usual twitchery for this?

For what it's worth, there is actual qualifying going on at the above YouTube Link.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think that Hinch managed to get e-bumped again.  :stoned:

Wasn't Lando guaranteed a starting spot?  Or was he just guaranteed an invitation to qualify?

So all the regulars / full time drivers were guaranteed their place in official qualifying, and the 'extras' had to pre-qualify by the looks of it.

So no Wickens, Busch or Norris. I also thought Norris was guaranteed a spot if he wanted it as a previous race winner.

Some discrepancies with NBC, but maybe someone can check the math...  as far as I can tell, my version is correct.

Seeing as the top 3 position points match, I don't think anything else really matters too much as it will need to go full on Indycar for anyone else to win.   :D

This is why Penske's 'guaranteed starters' idea was bovine excrement.

So, it's Thursday morning.

Nothing about this race on the IndyCar site.

Nothing on NBC Sports.

No idea who's racing.

No idea who the guests may be.

Will likely be picking a fantasy team tomorrow afternoon.  Maybe.

Did I miss anything?

From our Shameless Speculation Department:

Perhaps the general sense of ennui the powers-that-be seem to be exhibiting towards this "final" "race," at IMS no less, means that they're working on something vastly more important. And non-virtual. ;)

Today was supposed to be the open test and rookie orientation at the Speedway. My dad, brother and I were scheduled to be there plus go to a friend's racecar restoration shop. I'm hoping in about a month they have that rescheduled I'm more than ready to see cars on track.

Kind of a shame that there's no Wickens, no Juncos, no Hinchcliffe.  Could have done without Norris and maybe Speed, since he hasn't really raced IndyCar for real...

As per IndyCar

"A 15-minute qualifying session from 2:30-2:45 p.m. Friday will set the starting lineup for the First Responder 175 presented by GMR.

The qualifying session will be broadcast on iRacing’s YouTube channel."

Is that why Norris is on the entry list after all?

Shame Wickens is not in this one.  He was very competitive on both ovals up to this point.  I don't really see the point of bumping people, especially ones who were regulars of the e-series, just because they're too paralyzed to be regulars on the real circuit.  It also seems like an own goal to bump Kyle Busch from the field, surely there is room for one more "extra" for the Indy race.

Yes!  If we couldn't get a "dream" locale, we should of at least had a "dream" field.

And this venue was evidently the result of some online vote that I missed completely.  Was anyone else aware of it?

Castroneves in car #911.

Editorial comment on the current situation?   :|

Or reason excuse to start shamelessly speculating about his future Porsche ride?

Looks like he was guaranteed his place as a previous round winner but why he was then in the pre-qual, who knows...

I can only echo previous thoughts about Wickens and Busch; such a shame they are not in.

It's not a bad entry list to be fair. But I'd rather see Wickens and Busch than some of the no names and has beens in there.

I think Power has been drinking before this practice race as he is very vocal tonight. The race is also like Indycar gymnastics, with the amount of flipping going on.

If this carries on, none of them will be talking by the time it kicks off for real - the team radio is,shall we say, insightful.

it's down to the driver, if you pass someone before it's green, you got automatic black flag

Do all of the drivers have spotters? I've only been watching Lando's perspective. Sounded like his spotter was doing a great job.

Can't see him making it a double but he wasn't doing too badly at the end.
