so Williams canceled a sponsorship deal with a main sponsor so that their team could be sold to someone who now offers a lot less as they expected.... okay

Surprised Mazepin Sr. isn't making an offer

Er, wasn't it a sponsorship deal that involved the sponsor not paying any money (and why do you say it was cancelled in order to facilitate a sale of the team - which Williams described as their least desirable option).

Ah, Rokit, the company that executed their option perfectly in time with the current crisis to avoid wasting tens of millions for a team that isn't even on the screen 95% of the time after no doubt a lot of promises made by Claire. Now it's Latifi's time to screw them over again because it he really is the only one that wants to take them over it's gonna be on his conditions which means buying them for cheap. And with them most likely being near the end or even last again no sane sponsor would want to touch this team with a ten foot pole. Theres a constant negative vibe coming from Williams nowadays. Not worth it.

Just imagine if Claire & co werent so stubborn and stupidly proud and just went with Stroll's plan to make them a proper Mercedes b-team. They would probably be where RP is today. What a total disaster.

It seems par for the course.

Is the Russian legally able to transfer money to what I presume would be a British entity of some sort?

Why would he not be? It’s a genuine question; I guess other Russian businessmen have legitimate investments in Western European countries too (Roman Abramovici springs to mind but surely there must be several others too).

So how competitive are the team looking here, I had a quick look at the times but how do the long pace times look?

They even invested in the US president

Benson was saying on the BBC coverage this morning that only serious party interested in taking over Williams is Latifi Snr, and that his valuation is a lot lower than Williams' owners.

Claire told the press last weekend that there were "multiple interested parties" who were all being evaluated.

Ah, what that says to me is that they now cannot raise funding to continue the team and they are now ploughing ahead with the (least desirable) sell-the-team option.

That's what you always say when you try to sell something.

Which is the first thing an estate agent tells you when you ring up to enquire about a house that has been on the market for 2 years....

Everything is fab and a holds a bright future down at Williams HQ these days it seems.

Except Williams isn't a real estate agent it is a publicly traded company that has to follow certain guidelines when it comes to making public comments about such a topic.

Has Latifi called in his £50m loan?

Semantics. As long as they don't mention any figure, they can say whatever they want. Besides, it's perfectly possible that they have several offers on the table. Thing is, how many of them are realistic. The words "sell" or "buy" don't mean absolutely anything if they are not immediately followed by a price.

Williams still bottom 3 but a jump on last year.

Surprised they didn't talk to Haas about what WAE could have done stateside or potentially the rest of the world, that could have been an interesting link up.

Could have got Williams sniffing at things like Nascar or Indy which might have been an alternative future or something to subsidise the F1 team more.

There is another rich dad of a race driver who could be involved as a buyer / investor (apart from Latifi Sr, Mazepin Sr of even Gelael Sr) and that is Chanoch Nissany, they are right now already involved with Williams

But I don't think that will happen or are there any rumours about that? I am sure Latifi will buy into Williams and sell his shares at McLaren

Nissany never will get enough superlicence points.

But that doesn't necessarily mean his dad wouldn't be interested to become an investor / owner at Williams, same regarding Gelael's dad. After all Latifi's dad invested in McLaren despite his son signing at Williams.
Mazepin is not that far away from a Super Licence though

Another potential buyer could be Panthera.

No one is going to pay top dollar in a world recession (even if they have a kid they want to buy a present for).

Has Channoch Nissany really so much money?

I thought Nissany was being backed by Israel Start Up Nation (Sylvan Adams in particular) as opposed to his father.

If (very likely) he doesn't finish top 5 in F2 he will be pushed much further away from super licence because then big haul of 2018 won't be helping him anymore.

that's true and that is why I suspect he might still enter another, weaker, championship this season in order to score extra points

I didn't know that, you're most likely correct about that

Israel Start up nation have been spending big bucks in the world of cycling over the past year, they're able to afford Chris Froome.
