From 1988 to 1996, the Bologna Motor Show held the "Formula 1 Indoor Trophy", an exhibition series of races for F1 machinery held in a purpose-built arena, somewhat reminiscent of the Race of Champions or a super-special stage in the WRC.  Loyally attended by Minardi and the other non-Ferrari Italian teams of the time, the event featured a number of drivers who never made it to Grand Prix competition, and also one team (FIRST).

For me, even a F1 car on display is an attraction in itself.

The Bologna track isn´t too bad in my opinion, regarding the fact that its a show event in limited space.

Especially the driving on the wet track must´ve been a challenge as the drivers couldn´t get any significant temperature into the tyres to make them work.

So lots of drifting under braking, accelerating, keeping all that under control in the very tight cockpit space…not the easiest job for the drivers.

I watched the full video, it was exactly what it was supposed to be an exhibition of contemporary F1 cars, the deluge made it better in my view.

Nah, those are "proper" tracks, even if not very inspiring. But this is really a Gokart track. Yet I watched it, too, and it was good entertainment, which is probably thw whole point, after all it is a Motor Show. And I must say I was extremely impressed with Lehto's driving, you didn't need a watch to see that he was seconds faster than all the others, even over such a short course (though Fittipaldi's last lap was very good, too). Such a shame that Lehto's career was blighted by this (skiing, was it?) accident, I always thought he was the real deal.

The wet track suited him like few others, he was always a demon in the rain.
