Cyril Wick raced a Jaguar XK120 in 1953, then a Lester in 1954, followed by the big Cooper-Jaguar sports car in 1955...  The only one I remember is the Cooper-Jaguar...

More sad news. Mr Wick was is another part of my motor racing youth with the Allard and Cooper Jaguar. I remember him well. R.I.P.

There are obituaries online: 1=2, 3.

But do not ask me about their accuracy:

He would take part in prestigious races like that at Le Mans, France, making a name for himself in the world of motorsports until an accident forced his retirement in 1955.

He took on the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Monte Carlo Rally, but his racing career came to an abrupt end with a high-speed shunt in 1955.

Maurice and Cyril Wick are called brothers here.

Thanks folks for the info. With the amount of knowledge out there I will be able to get rid of most my motor racing books.

Do we have a correct date when he died Cedric mentions 19/4 and in a rewind link it has 10/4?

I have to admit that Cyril Wick remained a bit of a mystery for me, although listed in my Cooper file.

Apart from Rupert and Doug's post that either list or lead you to Cyril's events I also have him running the Cooper Jaguar T33 at the 22/5/55 Prescott HC  He offered the C-J for sale in 26/8/55 Autosport and there's photos of him running the C-J and amongst the trophy winners lineup in the 9/9/55 Autosport Brighton report.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Stephen

Emeline, thank you for the confirmation. If you have any records or photos of your father's racing exploits it would be nice to add here.
