Just received, I am afraid, from the BRDC.

We are very sorry to have to advise Members of the death of Honorary Member Pauline Hailwood last Saturday. She was 77 years of age and had been suffering from cancer for a number of years.

Pauline was the widow of former BRDC Member, accomplished Formula 1 driver and Grand Prix motorcycle legend Mike Hailwood who tragically died in a road accident with their daughter Michelle in 1981.

To their son David and family, the BRDC extends its sincerest condolences.

Pauline will be remembered as a lovely lady.

There's some lovely tributes in this article too : https://insideeko.co...lwood-obituary/

An older article with quotes and interview from BBC IoM : http://www.bbc.co.uk...d_feature.shtml

A lovely thought to imagine that she have been reunited Mike and Michelle now, RIP

Condolences to David and family. I value the time spent with his father and, at Winton race circuit long ago, his mother. Vale Pauline.

BT Sport did a superb documentary on Mike 5 or 6 years ago (called Ordinary Hero or something similar) that featured Pauline and David extensively. Warning though - the section in which Pauline speaks of her daughter will bring back all the sadness and anger that many will have felt back in 1981.

Interview with Pauline where she talks about when Mike was on "This Is Your Life", very touching at the end : https://www.youtube....h?v=9SvpPuKtymw
