I keep forgetting to count!

I wonder if Jim McGee slipped the commentators some money to get all this airtime.

Who is Jim McGee in IndyCar nowadays? Mike Hull?

Gary Gerrould just mentioned how Penske got Emmo out of the way.

I fully agree with Uncle Bobby on this one.

This was, hands down, one of the best races of the decade. I remember how pumped I was in the end.

Firestone's first since coming back!

And that's the broadcast! We don't need to see Scott taking off his helmet.

What a spectacle. And proof positive that you only need two cars to make a race. The attrition among the other frontrunners in the first half was farcical.

That was the PC-24 understeering like a pig on its Goodyears, in mid-corner.

Henri Greuter has written about it:

Well, considering Pruett was viewed as future F1 material in 1988 and whose career was almost destroyed when he broke his legs in testing at Sebring in 1990... Sam had a point.

West Palm Beach, not Sebring, but yeah. (Who knew there was a race track at West Palm Beach.) Pruett had a very delayed rise to the top.

There was a temporary circuit around the fairgrounds in West Palm Beach that IMSA ran on. For many years, there was a 1/2 mile paved oval at the fairgrounds as well, which hosted NASCAR races in the 1950s. The belief that the test accident happened at Sebring seems to make the rounds of message boards every few years, I think mainly because Sebring has been the site of so much testing that everyone moves it there. That Pruett's accident was at a temporary circuit, and one not well-remembered at that, just adds to that.

There is still a Palm Beach International Raceway in Jupiter. I don't know the relation to a west palm beach fairgrounds.

Yep, that's the permanent road course and drag strip, known as Moroso Motorsports Park between times it was known as PBIR. 25 miles from the South Florida Fairgrounds. I had to look up exactly how far apart they were, but knew they were different facilities. The South Florida Fairgrounds is the site of the temporary IMSA circuit and the long-running oval (1955-1983).

Just to be completist, IMSA ran two years on a city street circuit in West Palm Beach prior to moving to the fairgrounds layout.

Here's the one I'm referring to, where Pruett had his serious test accident:
