Does anyone have any news about Gary Hartstein? I read something about him not being well (though I might have been mistaken) and I see his twitter account has been suspended and his blog has not been updated for more than a year.

I seem to recall that he was fired from F1 and moved to the middle east...and that his twitter posts became more and more bizarre until he was suspended. I don't have twitter so I can't comment further.

For Anti-Trump tweets IIRC

Far as I know he is working nowadays as a Anesthetist in Abu Dhabi. Havent heard any rumours about him not being well or anything.

He composed some of the most anti anti-Trump tweets I have ever seen. Glorious rage.

His tweets were really quite funny. Didn't realise he'd been suspended but had noticed I hadn't seen him in a while.

There seems to be a story hidden as to why he was not extended in 2012, which his wiki page give zero information on... What happened?

I would likely be totally with him on the anti-Trump card but to get suspended from Twitter he must have posted some pretty strong stuff. I do recall some people a year or so ago wondering if he'd lost it.

Is this really the 26th Trump thread?

I'd noticed he'd disappeared - pity, as his posts following Schumacher's accident were informative, and his rants against Todt and the FIA were brilliant!

I have to say I was very surprised that he moved to Abu Dhabi, which is not exactly a beacon of liberal enlightenment.

From what I can gather he made himself unpopular with the powers that be for suggesting numerous ways how to make the medical service in motor sport 'better'. Rocked the boat too many times.

I remember that on twitter he was extremely opinionated, and that anytime I ever noticed him in a conversation, it always soon devolved into him verbally attacking the other party. Nobody from F1 seemed to care for him. At all.

That was the story he told, but frankly the more I read him, the more I would conclude that he was just an absolutely insufferable prick to be around.  I also wouldn't be surprised if Jean Todt's attempt to have him fired from his next job (in Belgium?) succeeded, because Hartstein moved to Middle East not too long after that.

How dare an educated man have an opinion that doesn’t conform to the populist social media brigade.

That's not at all what I meant. But I'm sure you knew that. Being 'extremely opinionated' doesn't simply mean that you have an opinion or that your opinion lies outside the mainstream.

I actually often agreed with some things he was saying. The problems started when anyone dared to disagree with him. Kinda like Joe Saward, but x20 ... if one can imagine such a thing...
