Jack brabham had bought for the 1956 F1 season an old Maserati 250F (#2504/2509) from BRM.

The car was entered in the Goodwood Glover Trophy, 1956 April 2nd.

The car was not ready and did not appear. But Stirling Moss had two cars at this race, his own 250F and a factory car. Moss decided to drive the factory car and Jack Brabham could drive the

Moss 250F. Brabham started from the last lane. I would like to know his result.

There is a photo of Brabham on the starting grid in the Tony Brooks book "Poetry in motion" page 74.

Also on the photo is Paul Emery who was also said "dna".

According to GEL Motorsport, Brabham was a DNA, as was Emery, and there is no mention of him in the race results.

From what I saw in 1956 Jack wasn't a Maserati 250F man.

The programme that I have (which I acquired later so not my writing) has Brabham #11 crossed out and no mention on the grid. He was entered in two races. As well as the Glover Trophy he is listed for the Easter Handicap Libre race also as #11, again he is crossed out in my programme. I think the photo on page 74 of Poetry in Motion is showing Louis Rosier in #14 Maserati. The cars are being push started and so appear a little out of grid formation.

Reports in The Autocar and the BARC Gazette both say that Emery started but no mention of Brabham.

Alf Francis’ autobiography says that he was in Modena before Goodwood working with Maserati. At his suggestion, and with Alfieri’s suggestion he took a works lorry to England, collected Moss’s car from Tring, drove to Goodwood and worked with Maserati mechanics Saturday night, Sunday and Sunday night assembling the engine the works car.   There is almost a page on this race and the lead-up to it but no mention of Brabham.

I agree with 68targa that the Maserati pictured in Tony Brooks” book is Rosier.

Sorry, it's Louis Rosier before taking his place on the grid.

In the race account of Motorsport: "Brabham was to have driven the old Moss Maserati but the lack of disc brakes seemed to put him off".

So only one dna raced: Paul Emery.
