Forgive my very basic OP ... I am just a stand in for this round ... the usual OP guys are very busy with other matters.

Times: BST

30AUG

Race

14:10 - 16:10

29AUG

Qualifying

14:00 - 15:00

29AUG

Practice 3

11:00 - 12:00

28AUG

Practice 2

14:00 - 15:30

28AUG

Practice 1

10:00 - 11:30

No Spa thread is complete without an icon of the best track in F1

SpaF1-07.f8790385e69917207b1a12e00b63922 The uzi ...

And an obligatory photo of Eau Rouge

image.jpg

And then the weather (and thus tires) ... always important at Spa ...

Friday is expected to see generally cloudy conditions but is likely to remain dry. Sunshine will bring some warmth in the late afternoon.

The risk of rain will rise slightly on Saturday. However race day is currently forecast to bring the highest chance of precipitation. The air temperature is set to be no higher than 15C, which would be closer to what we saw on race day last year, when the ambient temperature reached 18C and the track surface 31C.

Although the conditions will be slightly cooler this year, teams have a softer range of tyres available, featuring the C4 slick tyre instead of the C1.

And viola ... thread OP served up for you guys.

I'm seeing pictures on twitter of strips of astro turf being removed from the back of curbs all round the circuit.  In particular I've noted outside of turn 1 down towards eau rouge, and on the approach to the bus stop, but perhaps theres more:

https://twitter.com/...998809549185027

And apparently we now have 4 deep tyres instead of 2 deep tyres by the pitlane exit - presumably as a reaction to Hubert's crash, but it doesn't sound like much of a change tbh

Very funny apart from the obvious homophobic connotations...

Larger tyre barriers at Radillion

Last season it was a 3 rows barrier, now 4.

Only when the rain falls.  These days they can make it round without having to bother too much about the actual track!

I have one job interview with HMRC on 9 Sept and another with Network Rail on 17 Sept. Prepping my butt off!  :(

But I've booked off every Friday practice so far this year, because hey it's the little luxuries in these times ...

Good luck with your interviews. I've got a pretty big interview for a potential new job coming up in October too.

Good luck! I used to work for HMRC and now work in the railway, so believe me - the interviews aren't that scary when you're in there! :)

I watched 2005 on F1TV recently, which was technically wet throughout because the leaders never switched to slicks! Track took an age to dry.

Thanks JJ

I have been busy with an new job myself and although I knew Spa was this weekend I haven't given it a thought until now.  IMO,best track and best race of the season, although one could make an argument for Silverstone. I think that its the shear size of the track, and its location.  The weather can be different on either end.  Kimi once said that Spa is a proper road course, driving it you actually feel like you are going somewhere then coming back all in one lap.

A wet race would be fun. I’d like to see how Vettel and Leclerc can do if it’s pouring.

Based on how things went the last time it rained, that would actually put them further ahead.

Actually, Toyota put Trulli (who was 3rd) on slicks after SC, doing that ruined his race completely. They did the same later with Ralf (who pitted from second) and again track was not dry enough.

My favorite circuit on the calendar. I'm hoping for another fun race this year. The forecast looks interesting, but it's Spa, and pretty much anything can happen.
