After topping the mechanical DNF list for this season with 3 out 9, the inability of the team to get a useful teammate and after the 'best season evah' prep, he sounded pretty fed up today.

Seeing Hamilton wanting more money, could Verstappen undercut him for the Merc seat by tearing up his contract?

If I were Jos Verstappen, I'd call my friend Toto. I'd tell him there's another top tier driver, except this one would drive for half of Hamilton's salary.

But I guess he did that 3 years ago and it didn't work :rotfl:

Sigh. Unfortunately it’s not out of the realm of possibility. I would prefer if Max would just have patience.

He is in his 6th season, with 4 full season with a “title” contender. How much patience someone should have?

It’s crystal clear, if he wants a title, he needs to switch to a Mercedes powered team.

Where is he going?

Got a feeling Max wouldve been higher up in the championship had he been in the racing point or McLaren.

Which is when?

So nothing has changed from 3 years ago lol. We're just waiting it out for Lewis.

 I don’t think so. Trp and Mclaren’s chassis are light years behind Red Bull.

Nice title, but he has no options until Mercedes decide it's time to let Lewis go. Also I'm pretty sure Max is under contract.

There's probably an exit clause that he can use.

Wrong. The cars will be the same next season. The rules state that 2020 cars will be used for 2021 as well.

Can't see it, it was very surprising when that happened to Vettel, would they run the risk of the same thing happening again by agreeing to an easily activated clause?

Also Max is 3rd in the championship, RB is 2nd so what clause? Typically these things are only activated if they're uncompetitive.

That's no use if Hamilton does a Valentino Rossi and races into his 40s lol

It’s a good thing Verstappen is so young, he’s going on veteran status with his time in F1! I actually don’t think Hamilton will stay as long as many suspect in the sport, think he’ll be out by 2023 at the latest

They can’t bring upgrades mid season ? They already do as of now

Upgrades are not the same as using a different car.

What about him? Isn't the problem pairing Lewis and Max together?

Hey I'd love it. But I've given up waiting for it.

Hence the smiley , they can just name it “upgrades” they just happen to look alike. But yes technically can’t be the same indeed

but yeah, Verstappen should offer himself to Mercedes by demanding less pay than either Bottas and Hamilton and saying: great results for less money guys.

In my opinion Hamilton vs Verstappen at Mercedes would be the only thing which could save Formula 1 from boringness.

yes? It is what it is. Merc are going for records with Hamilton. They won't sign Max.

They dont because they are miles ahead of the competition. Its a big shame. Days ilke today must be boring even for Lewis' fans I am sure.

If you found today boring just because of who won, you need to have a long hard look at yourself.

2022 is earliest before Max can jump the ship. That too is of very little chance.

I never understood all of these, "Max will be fed up and leave posts".

Of course he would leave to Merc, but he would have left there years ago if would have been possible. Other than that, he is by far the best place, he could be.

So I don't really see the point of these threads, as there are no options for him at the moment.

You mean the crashes and safety cars? Was kind of fun and saved todays race a bit at least. Unfortunately all excitement for the championship and at the front is lacking.

Yeah I know its not Mercedes' problem, still its a fact and must be boring to some extend at the very least for most Lewis' fans as well I assume.

Indeed. He has a contract until the end of 2023, so the best he can hope for is Merc seat in 2024. There is a lot that can happen between now and then and that includes the emergence of the next Max

2 very possible wins lost in 9 races isn't a knee-jerk.

Being denied a strong title challenge, once again, isn't a knee-jerk.
