Paving the way for Ralf Schumacher's son to enter later. Or maybe just for Ralf Schumacher to make a comeback.

I don't get why Merc are turquoise, McLaren haven't had a Silver livery in over 5 years and the turquoise on the Merc is a mere trim, a silver-grey identifier would make more sense.

They probably choose it due to the sponsorship agreement?

Nice to finally see visor camera onboards making a return. Hopefully they can add a few more? The cameras they've been using lately have been very standard, good to have something interesting to watch and it really shows how hard the drivers work in the cars

The driver's eye view cam was fantastic, hope they do more of this, particularly during the race.

Not a huge fan of 'driver's eye' cams.  But I noticed that at Le Mans, there were half a dozen cars that had on-board cams live streaming in YT for the whole 24 hours, in addition to all the on-boards in the TV coverage.  Such independence would not suit F1 of course.....the (nearly) dead hand of Bernie Ecclestone still has the whole of F21 by the goolies.

I finished watching a replay of FP2 a few moments ago and the coverage was excellent compared to last year, far superior.  There were far fewer useless garage shots or shots of team members on the pitwall.  The TV director did a good job of sticking to cars on track and focusing on cars that were on timed laps.  Also there was no cutaway to Martin Brundle when he did his corner analysis, instead the TV director maintained the typical, on track, main feed footage, with Martin doing a voice over analysis of car at the corner he was located.  This is much better than last year and the same can be said about the absent visual cutaway's to Ted Kravitz in the pitlane, instead relying on audio only, so an excellent move.  In the future I wouldn't mind FOM using a small picture-in-picture box for Martin and Ted, but again, I was very pleased with this latest effort.

Sky did use Picture-in-picture as always during practice

The world feed for other broadcasters such as F1TV is left alone as it also will be catering for other languages

Found it..

Coverage gets worse it seems; Zooming in on the cars so we can see the sponsors.

No sense of speed this way.

Reporters have to comment on the balance of the cars.. hard to do when all you see is a sidepod.. (Take us for a ride, Martin..)

Garage stills while cars are qualifying, and the 'purple' sectors that aren't purple..

Downgrade from last year.

Possibly just my problem, but with my poor eyesight, I'm now totally unable to read any of the information in the side column. They have reduced the font size so much now. The only reason I can think that they might have done this is to fit more information into the width limit. If that's the reason, then I'm baffled as to why they have now double-spaced the rows in the column, rather than just reducing its height so that we can see more of the actual picture. If they did that, maybe they would not have to zoom in so much or, if they did, you'd still be able to see a little bit more of what was going on.

It's as though the pictures are unimportant and the stats are everything (because you can only see so much in the pictures, but the stats tell you everything that's going on).

First I would like to apologize to you, I didn't want to come across as a b*ll *nd earlier on in the other thread. I just didn't have time to do the search myself and present this one to you. Glad you've found it!

Because secondly, I totally agree with much of your criticism. The sense of speed is totally lost by the many times a car is zoomed in to. Also I have a hard time getting my head around not showing relevant footage. Seeing drivers on their out or in laps is something I'm totally not interested in.
But on a sidenote, the new graphics are to get used to and do provide some better contrast and information on screen. And I'm also glad the ugly onboard Halo graphics are gone. Just a bit annoyed that the MPH are shown so big. But hey, Murica.

No need to apologize, I was commenting regarding the footage we received on the wrong thread.

MPH is not a concern to me. As a KMH 'user' I'd love to calculate on the spot..

The Helmet Cam Crofty raved about.. Sorry, what we need is a 'dynamic' shaking cam (old tech) like we experienced during the 80's (90' ?) with Senna for example doing Monaco.

Talk about sense of speed!

Less sponsors, less figureheads and more sense of speed.

(Yes, sponsors are important..)

As much as I like the new graphics, I find the times/gaps in the timing tower difficult to read on my smallish tablet screen. I don't think they scale very well. They look really good at 1080p on a big TV, but when the screen size is reduced the already thin numerals become even thinner. Maybe try (semi)bold italic instead of italic?

Nah - even on my 62inch screen the tower was annoying. Don’t need the F1 logo at the top, don’t need the teams, don’t need half the stuff tbh - full surnames included!

Just go back to the abbreviations, and the laptimes. And put it hard up left against the screen too.

The TV director still doesn't seem to understand that we need to see the cars on the track – not just the cars or parts of them. We can't judge the speed of the cars or the skills of the drivers unless we see the cars being moved around on the race track.

I really dislike that at the end of the sectors you only see the previous sector (lap) time and the running stopwatch without the current sector/laptime. Why did they change this from the good old sector vs sector and gap inbetween them formula?

F1 has had this problem for over a decade, hence people like me prefer onboards and chopper cam.

The solution is obvious, dont zoom in, and show car sponsors on corner of screen when its the one been followed.

Not sure I know what you mean. The boxes at the bottom of the screen with a driver's sector times seem to carry the same information as they did last year? At the intermediate the running stopwatch is replaced by the gap for a few seconds.
