The current Seb would be a downgrade on most drivers on the grid to be honest, but I'm confident he's gonna bounce back next season especially as he should easily have the measure of Stroll which will boost his confidence. So no, I think he'll do well at Aston Martin

I find the hopes that he will somehow be a different driver there extremely delusional, but he is not that bad either. Even if circumstances could always strike against him.
While I dont consider him an upgrade over Perez I guess Aston Martin might generate enough marketing value to not regret it.

At this point in time, my answer to the 2nd question would be yes, they will regret it, and it won't last longer than 2021 in the end.
First question, I can't tell, I really can't.
The only glimmer of hope I see, could be that he just checked out and doesn't bother anymore at Ferrari. Which in it's own way would be unprofessional as hell, but at least it would carry the hope that he can "check in" again next year at Aston.
But I'm not holding my breath.
