Then built better tracks or better curbs.

That’s literally what they did.

Probably because of it getting to dark at the end with a normal start time.

Because it's autumn in Europe and therefore gets dark earlier. This is the latest in the year that there has ever been an F1 race in mainland Europe.

Sunset was at 17:02. The maximum race time (including suspensions) is four hours, and after the fatal accident at Suzuka in 2014 it was decided that the race must start four hours before sunset. At Suzuka the race continued until it looked like this:

I presume it’s a Movember thing.

I guess this is more suitable for the buildup thread, rather than the race thread.

Good way to appreciate the changes to the circuit over the years.

Lando noticed Carlos's car wasn't fully shut down - see the McLaren logo followed by gear readout of "N" on the screen in the middle of the wheel - so he switched it off. Someone on Reddit mentioned Carlos might have knocked a switch with his foot as he got out of the car.

Although the race weekend is over and done with, I saw this nice video of Schumacher ragging his Benetton B194 around Imola, during qualifying on that tragic weekend in 1994.

As nice as it was to see Imola again, I was hoping to see a bit more overtaking on the elongated main straight. Although I'm not a big fan of Villeneuve chicane (due to what it replaced) it still seemed to provide some action. So I guess I just have to give it a chance.

Imola has done so many changes over the years, so I guess we should not demand major changes, especially as there is no guarantee of another F1 race. Maybe they could move DRS activation zone a bit earlier. It should be doable although somewhat dangerous pit entry may be limiting factor. This should help overtaking a bit, although entry to Tamburello chicane will remain problematic.

One option is to make just a minor modification to 2nd Rivazza turn. Perhaps it could be widened by few meters from the inside and reprofiled to have more than one racing line. As it is now, it reminds a bit of Sochi's last turn which is quite good at blocking overtaking on the following long straight.

Shows really well how nasty the bumps were where Senna went off.
