I was just reading that one of Will Power's first races was at Carnel Raceway, Stanthorpe.

Does anyone know anything about this circuit?

Terry, Carnell Raceway is in Rifle Range Road, Stanthorpe (next to the tip). It’s a fairly tight & tricky circuit, including a 1/8 mile drag strip, 890m bitumen circuit and also a ‘rallycross’ type of circuit. I’ve competed there and it was when Will was ‘home’ and was subbed into doing the trophy presentation. Will also ran at Morgan Park occasionally (the ‘home’ track of Matt Campbell).
See https://carnellraceway.com.au for more info about the track.

I've never seen it but I don't think it operates very often...

I have a friend who competes at the drags there and formerly ran on the short circuit.

Here's a Google Earth image:

It doesn't look altogether unused, maybe I've been misled about how often they run. As the drag strip is only an eighth mile, the circuit if certainly short.

Half a mile is a difficult length - too short and tight for cars but too long for karts

It's like all the slow bits of Winton in one neat package.

But a bit rougher off line...

One upchange and one downchange per lap.
