Is motor racing a sport (or, rather, does the argument that it isn't make any sense)?

Yet F1, like other motorsports, fits into the definitions of sport posted in the first page. Do any of the F1 is not a sport crowd have a n accepted definition of sport that excludes motorsport but not all the “common” sports?

Sport is quite vaguely defined at the best of times anyway, and I think I mentioned earlier in the thread about how it comes in degrees rather than an all or nothing.

Another thing against F1 is that it is a closed shop. You can't just do F1 (like you can play football) - you need permission from one of the F1 teams, permission that isn't necessarily based on merit or performance. Motorsport itself is quite closed because of the expense, but you don't explicitly need permission the same way as in F1 specifically. So hypothetically (quite an extreme situation obviously that would never happen in reality), you could win a race, maybe even come 4th in the championship as well but not have permission to compete in the next season.

Someone could counter that while you don't need permission to play football, you do need permission to play Premier League football. But essentially motor racing is a different sport at different levels. You don't play with a bigger or heavier ball as you move up the football leagues. It would make it a different game.

If Formula 1 was a sport than Perez would have a seat for next season.
