I find really really strange that this huge and incredible messup happens exactly when Hamilton is not there for the first time.

Also, Russell denied not once but twice to try to get the win.

Conspirac theorists have a lot of food for thought

Merc have been a mess strategy wise for years.  Just unlucky for russell.

the odd win maybe, in variable conditions.  But let's not forget the Merc hasn't been developed for most if not all year because their cushion has been so great they've not needed to.  Max is a top driver and even he has to rely on Merc misfortune to do anything.  Let's not forget Russell almost certainly would have won on Sunday but for events wholly beyond his control.  Even Lewis wouldn't have been able to recover from that snafu, regardless of how much hammertime he used.  The Merc is in a league of its own and they would really have to make a complete pig's ear of it to lose either the WDC or WCC

It would never happen to LH.

Not so sure if Max was in the race that a win for Russell would be a certainty.....

But he was out of the race, and the circumstances as they were, do you think Russell would have lost that race without Merc's screwup?

You mean the driver that wanted to box in Bahrain despite the gap being marginal in order to ensure he was on fresh tyres for SC restart?

The question was about if Russell's win was a certainty if Max was still in the race, it's debatable if Russell would still be leading after the 1st pitstop.....never mind the Merc screwup.....

Do you not think that the post was talking about how the race was at the point in time that Merc made the mistakes, and not from the very start?

It was implied, but my follow up post was also suggesting that other drivers suffered misfortunes that potentially cost them a victory.....Perez was the who really lucked out.....

Exactly, but Max could have made a mistake and cooked a corner and flat spotted a tire and ruined his race.

What if game never stops and impossible to draw any conclusions others then what "actually" transpired"...

This is the issue with all this Max this Max that hyperbole... its just based on soooooooo many assumptions that mean nothing than what happened.

So do we know what happened to Aitkens front wing? It seems like "twisted fate" for Russell's old car to betray him like that .

Shocked to read that GR's Merc contract is for 10 years. (Though, that comes from Dr.Marko, so who knows)

I wonder when that was signed? Seems like he put all his eggs in the Merc basket early.

Why? So many getting their panties in a twist over this it’s funny

At such a young age being able to sign a 10 year contact with Mercedes is the ultimate dream and a no brainer. And also shows how much Mercedes value him .

On top of that contracts can be broken if another team sees it worth it, people are being extremely over dramatic regarding the length of his contact...

He ran wide and knocked it off on the barrier at the last corner

It is ethically wrong to sign a young driver - aged 18 at the time - to such a long contract. I imagine there will be performance bonuses and exit clauses included in the contract, but the length of it is outrageous, if true.

Ok, 'Suprised' to read.

No panties being twisted, no drama and certainly no sleep being lost my end, pal.
