Simple question.

Now that we've seen back to back Grands Prix on the standard GP layout and on the Outer circuit in Bahrain, what are your thoughts?

I liked it. Wouldn't want it every weekend, but its something different and made an interesting change.

Yeah! Fast and furious, I enjoyed it very much. Reminded me of the Red Bull Ring, Austria in the way laps just disappear so quickly.

By far the most exciting and distinct of all of Bahrain’s options. Goes to show the futility of the over-elaborate cookie cutter layout.

I mean, let's organize races in mall parking lots. Carnage guaranteed, literally. It was great as an experiment, but otherwise, it was a ridiculously short and simple layout. No more of this, thanks.

Ha! Beaten to it by seconds.

I think it's the best of the three layouts that have been used in Bahrain. Fast, loads of laps and therefore unique. Plus the racing was good, especially in F2. I'd be happy to see the outer circuit used permanently.

This. I'd happily take this over Bahrain 1.0, Spain, France, Yabbi Dhabi, Singapore etc.

I prefer the GP track and I think the GP track makes for better racing but having a different kind of track was kind of cool. I think I’d rather have the oval track track on the calendar to mix things up

I loved it. Three great races across Formula 1&2.

They should alternate the outer loop and GP layouts in my opinion. I want to see more races on this configuration, but the normal layout is actually a pretty good one as well.

I liked it, but the GP circuit has also brought some good racing in the last few years. Perhaps they should alternate the layouts.

Other. I like it, i would love to have both race back to back like this year in the calendar. In fact, i would love to have a special event there, each year after the last race of the season, all drivers with the same car. A normal quali session, and then a race, without tyres change. Flat out all the race.

Selected Other, I think it was great for a one off and as much as I really do like sector 2, I think we should stick to the GP circuit moving forward, still wary of those DRS trains and the small lap time

I really enjoyed it, though I think a lot of the excitement in the race came not because of the track layout, but because of the Mercedes problems and Max being eliminated early.

I certainly wouldn't want it to replace the usual track, which I think is one of the best tracks on the calendar.

Purely on its own I wouldn't say it's a great improvement on the standard circuit (which I actually quite like) but I've been long saying that F1 desperately needs more circuit variety. And as something a little bit different for a change it worked well (although not as well as for F2 because of the cars).

I preferred the GP layout. It was fun to see something different, but this race was only better than last weeks due to some exceptional circumstances, and not because the nature of the track. Bahrain as a circuit is a good one already with plenty overtaking opportunities, and doing the different layout didn’t add anything to it.

Well, the 2 F2 races were great, and the F1 one was bonkers.

I'd say it delivered.

I think this track proved to be more fun to watch, cars looked faster & more on the limit and there were a lot more wheel to wheel battles between turns 3-4 compared to the old layout.

The cars looked on the limit all the time at the chicane too, good to watch.

I'd go straight with this track for next season.

We need variety! Why not alternate between the two layouts?

Would be great to have a novelty weekend where they race both layouts in a sprint-race feature-race style, perhaps with park ferme conditions between the 2 configurations to allow teams to gamble on one race or the other for a big points haul.

I think it was better than the regular Sakhir grand prix layout....I'd like to see another race there but on balance I prefer it.

Mid sector seemed to be more of a challenge than expected.  Bit of a quirky circuit.  I'm not sure it gave us great race in terms of layout though.  That was down to first lap incidents and SC.

I like tjis idea, i mean, it was an incredible race and so different to usual F1, every corner was an overtaking opportunity!

As Charles said a few posts up, for F2 it was fantastic, for F1 it didn't work for me.  I found the race reasonably dull for most of it despite the crazy result, and this isn't due to personal bias of who did and didn't do well, it was just a very hard track for overtaking

The usual Bahrain lay-out gives us good racing already, why mess with it?

Should really be changing Abu Dhabi instead

I liked it a lot. It was a little too short for 20-car qualifying and a little too bumpy, but it was more fun than the GP circuit with its slow T8/9/10 section and the sweeping T11/12 where I think dirty air tends to extend gaps between cars. It was even possible to overtake through T5/6/7! And today's F2 sprint race was the most exciting race I've seen all year.

Alternate them. I don't mind Normal Bahrain, but Outer does give something totally unique to the calander.

As an F1 circuit, I think it was a little bit too crazy.  For the lower formulas it is a possibility, but I don't think it is suitable for the pinnacle of motor racing.

It was great, but the regular GP circuit is also very good. This years race on there was the only boring Bahrain Grand Prix I can remember since 2010, which was even on the endurance layout.

I voted first option, although I was tempted to go last.

I would not like all F1 tracks to be like this, but for a one off I thought it was brilliant. So I'd love them to use it for future races.

No, all drivers with the same car on a small and easy track like this. You can easily overtake here, and have battle in S2. Quali session would be awesome.

It's great to have it once a season because it is unique and different to all other tracks, just like Monaco or Monza. The normal Bahrain layout is just a track like any other.

The mercs would have lapped the field twice without them ****ing it up during the pitstop and charles going all submariner on checo... and then everybody would have been complaining about the boring race...

If they could run this track once every couple of years, I would love that. Not every year, it needs to be treated as a novelty.

It was just as awesome as I expected. Something different, which F1 needs.

It should alternate each year with the traditional layout.

I already liked the normal Bahrein GP track quite a lot but like this one even more.

What I would suggest is do a normal GP race on the traditional F1 layout at Bahrein on Saturday, then reverse the top 12 and do a sprint race on the outer layout on Sunday (with the same amount of points).

We have plenty of traditional Tilke tracks. So no need to alternate here. Just go all years on the Oval in Bahrain (option 1)

Other: the GP track is one of the few good new tracks out there. They could do with a race on the outer track every couple of years though. It delivered in some awesome overtakes in S2 and was fun to watch during quali.

They should just add a few random locations each year, this can be in the pool.

Agreed. But with the drive to expand the calendar, they could have 2 races here a year.

That way they could run the outer circuit twice. ;)

I liked it. I also like the normal track (the endurance track is trash), but I'd be happy if they chuck a couple of weird ones like this in to the calendar every year.
