Well, well, well... it's been just 8 races since F1 got it's 109th Grand Prix winner in the form of Pierre Gasly. For a long time at the Turkish Grand Prix, it looked as if #110 would be Lance Stroll, but it was not to be for the Canadian. For a long time in the Sakhir Grand Prix, it seemed as though we had our fianal answer for #110, and the answer duly came. Admittedly, not the answer we all thought, but an answer nonetheless. Sergio PĂ©rez.

39/130 polled Autosport forumites correctly guessed #110 would come this year, and 7/130 guessed PĂ©rez, with four (Anja, William Hunt, thegamer23 and TomNokoe) correctly guessing the combination of the two!

E2o8UMG.png

So then, can we find another oracle? Will it be as simple as George Russell in a week's time from now? Will it be Sainz in a resurgent Ferrari next year? Will the multiverse close in on itself, revealing that Markus Winkelhock actually did win the 2007 European Grand Prix and actually it turns out PĂ©rez was #111 after all?

Let's hear it, people.

Thanks to the mods for sorting my finger troubles.

Personally went for McLaren pulling off a bit of a coup next year with the Merc engines and Norris bagging a first win.

Russell is too obvious. I'm going with Sainz 2022.

I think there's an error with the poll... Albon has accidentally been put in there....  :p

I think Sainz for Ferrari

Put all my eggs in the "Russell drives for Merc next weekend and wins" basket.

In no way does this reflect the triumph of hope over expectation.

I dont think that Russell will win in Abu Dhabi even if he drives there, a more traditional circuit will certainly be harder for him, then 2021 is off the table, if no one else managed by then then him in 2022.

A lot depends on Ferrari now. The main reason why Gasly and Perez won this year is because we essentially only have three top cars, previously we had 5 or 6. If Ferrari returns to be a top team (or something like it) Sainz has the best chances in 2021. Or maybe Norris if McLaren makes a step with Merc engines.

Bad Frood, why did you hide God Sato so far down? Now I accidentally voted Russell.

My vote

My finger was hovering there, then decided my dislike of Norris, and fantasy coloured expectation of Magnussen at Red Bull in 2022 made me chose him instead.

I think this is more a 'believe' thread rather than 'wish'.

Sainz 2021, but I really expect this thread to already be history by this time next week.

Sainz have surprised me this season, been his best season by far in my opinion, much better than Norris (again in my opinion), I am not sure Ferrari have wins in them 2021, if they do and Russel do not win this week, Sainz would be the most obvious.

Who of Perez or Gasly will win their second race first?  Will Russell win two before PER or GAS?

It's got to be Sainz or Russell but I have a feeling it'll be Stroll

i doubt RP has a chance in AD this week and, based on contracts that exist today that's his last chance

I've got a feeling it'll be Stroll just to annoy us purists. :rotfl:

Last time I voted for Norris 2021 but now I'm leaning to think Hamilton will end his career at the end of this year, replaced by Russell who is my answer.

Yes, please, just to see the turmoil as all the anti-Stroll brigade desperately backtrack to say how they always really thought he was good.

But in reality, I still think it will be Sainz next year.

If its not Russell next race (which I voted for), then I think it'll be Norris in 2021

What about Vandoorne? If Lewis is cleared to run Friday, but finds he physically unable to continue on Saturday .... Stoffel could end up in the car. Wouldn't it be fun, if he WON!!!

Surely Russell would still be in the car, even after practising with Williams? There's no rule against switching teams mid-weekend!

Of course if Bottas gets a positive test, and Lewis is not racing, Mercedes could be running Russell and Vandoorne on Sunday.

Russell in 2022 is the most obvious.
There have only been 2 races this year where the top 3 (mercs + max) have all dropped the ball. With Albon and Ferrari not really being good enough this year that has led to 2 new winners. If Ferrari improve next year (unlikely) then Sainz to win but surely Russell will be at merc by 2022.

And really was the Mercedes pits dropping both of the new winner races.
