Perhaps Abu Dhabi have finally heard all the criticism of their home circuit so now they have 'acquired' one of the best tracks instead.

Maybe they will move it to the Gulf....

If this is what it takes to keep some of the best tracks on the calendar, it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make

"Sao Paolo GP"

So are they planning another gp to Brazil? Really making the calendar too big huh?

Not really.

Federal Governement was backing the fraud of the Rio GP.

São Paulo State and its capital, also São Paulo, are governed by a rival political party.

So, São Paulo governement wants to say that "Brazil" has nothing to do with the GP.

Oops.

Judge suspends Sao Paulo F1 GP contract
The true nature of the Sao Paulo financial support has subsequently become clear in legal documents that reveal how much the city is paying, namely 20m Reals – the equivalent of US$3.65m – per year over the five years of the deal.
...
The contract has been suspended by Judge Emilio Migliano Neto, pending further investigation.
"The facts reveal without a doubt, at least at this stage, that the principles of publicity and transparency are being violated in an explicit manner," the judge noted.

Bummer. Let's hope the court case doesn't result in the race being cancelled.

No, the Brazilian government's denial of COVID will result in the race being cancelled.

Sounds like total BS to me. If the government / municipality would be initiating the race, then it makes sense that they organize a tender. But if an outside organisation puts together the event and says "here's the deal, you give us the money and the race will happen - we've agreed it with Liberty", then the government / municipality can't just go "efff you, we are going to take this over and let the lowest bidder organize the race. You may participate if you wish."

While I really love the track, and the original layout even more, the actual level of safety for non-drivers and VIPs is appalling, and we are one unlucky moment away from some mechanic or safety worker getting killed.

Glad to hear the Rio track is consigned to the rubbish bin.
