The other thing Hughes is forgetting, is that it's how Bottas is losing these battles that gets him the criticism. Turkey for Bottas will forever be a mystery 
. Other times he just does not look after the tires well. Then there was the awful standing starts. This was one of his worst seasons ever. Even ignoring Hamilton's results. Turkey, Monza, others just made no sense at all.

I think there's a difference with Gasly and Bottas though. Taking Hamilton and Verstappen out of the picture, Gasly (first half '19 season) and Bottas ('20 season) had objectively terrible seasons by their own standards. Cars that were comfortably 1st and 2nd best in the WCC. Yet Bot and Gas had you believing otherwise. I will never understand what possessed Valterri Bottas in Turkey.
I just don't think Perez would have such a diabolical season, but anything's possible I guess.
