It’s a high quality entry his year. Tough decision to make.

Might have to abuse mod privileges allowing me to change my vote.

Jacksonville seems like it would be entirely in keeping with some of the gimmicks of FE, so wins my vote

Oakland e-Prix gets my vote!

It just makes sense. All the structures are placed there, and it just looks like a realistic & exciting Formula E route.

Also the lake setting looks great!

Should be a good chance of snow chains being needed.

So many good choices. Especially late entries like the Åre and St Moritz ones. But I will have to pick Jacksonville. That one is just so bonkers, I'd love to see it in action one day. And then have the TV director cut to a distant shot where you see cars passing by, over and under one another.

Very few real overtaking opportunities. Haven't you learned ANYTHING from Tilke??!?

You MUST have a slow corner into a straight into a medium speed corner.   ;)

I’ll wait for the final day, and cast a tie-breaker vote if it’s needed.

Didn't know Tilke designed FE circuits?

I voted St Moritz because I think they should build it.

The Jacksonville circuit put me in mind of the Edgar Allen Poe story A Descent into the Maelström, which I suppose is a compliment.

Thanks all for taking part, these are all great!

Don't be. I did my first entry this year and I saw it as a good effort. And a lesson learned how not to do things. I'm keeping my cards close to my chest.. because I know I will be back next year. And I hope you too 😉

To be fair, It's not about being good at it.  :smoking:  :)

(by the way, the Norwich Layout 2 is very good, and could easily be on in the FE calendar already!)

The best thing is the fun of the creative process behind each track layout!

Thanks - I did enjoy myself, but feel that my designs are too dull due to me not being the creative type.

That Edinburgh one is nifty but quite long. As a native it's hard not to vote for it but 3 miles is a lot for FE.

Oh, go on, force yourself.😁 I do go for longer distances (I think Newcastle last year was about 2.3 miles) because you can fit more "interest" in - and we are operating in a fantasy world where, perhaps, we can eke a little more range out than in the here and now. I won't ever be doing anything silly like an 8.5 mile Le Mans layout.

You've drawn the track better than I did, mind. I should have sub-contracted...

CPBell: Your entries are fine, don't give up. As recent posts show, I don't pay more than half a mind to how realistic these things are. It's the fun of doing it, nothing else matters.

In view of which, whilst I could easily have gone with the flow and voted for Jacksonville...there's an entry that appeals to me even more (plus, after half a race round there the entire field, and most of the TV audience will have baled out with motion sickness).

But a track in a former Soviet republic where every corner is named after the president is the perfect blend of humour and reality. Inspired work there, young Frood.

I went for Jacksonville. An original and bonkers concept but plausible enough that it could happen. The big barrier would be whether or not the authorities would close a major junction. There are though many similar junctions all over the world so maybe there is one somewhere that would allow it.

I noticed last year did ask for the top 3 so I will add mine anyway. In second place I would put Ashgabat. The perfect mix of parody and farce whilst still being a realistic and interesting circuit. In third I would have Oakland. It is the entry that to me looks most like it could be a real Formula E circuit.

Finally to cpbell, there is nothing wrong with your circuits. All the entries have some interesting features.

One thing I found when trying to put together my circuit is that it is actually a lot harder than it first looks. For width I generally needed to stick to the more major roads. I kept finding lots of them to be unsuitable as they lead into junctions or corners with no run off from high speed approaches. I started off with a list of things to include on the circuit but I only managed about half of them. I did find though that these extra constraints made it more challenging, more fun and more rewarding when I finally did come up with a circuit.

That was my problem!  I had some more interesting Norwich layouts in mind, but they all went stupidly narrow!

I think it would have been between Ashgabat and Oakland for my second preference.

Tough choices! Lots of good entries for a variety of different reasons be it in realism, graphics, humour or passion.

I think I'm going to have to take some time to mull over my top three and my ultimate vote winner...

Which was my problem as well as I've explained in the thread before. The challenge this year was quite serious as it had to be in your near vicinity. A fun challenge none the less.

Well I’ve decided. Are is it for me. Close second for the simply absurd Ashgabat. Can’t pick a third. Too many good ones.

It didn’t have to be in your vicinity. Not everyone agreed to that.

Personally I wasn't thrilled about the possibility that entries would have to be from our own vicinity (and understood that was NOT a rule), but I guess it turned out alright

I've voted for Woking.  It's local to me, and it includes an impossibly tight hairpin which all FE tracks seem to have to have by law.  In fact I suspect it may be TOO impossibly tight to get round!

But parts of the track have actually racing pedigree.  Some it was used a number of times for a cycle race and some were used by McLaren to celebrate WCC success and have been graced by the F1 cars of Hakkinen and Coulthard.

No.  I already have one, too... the one I did initially, before all that talk about a "local vicinity" track started.   ;)

I have found a problem with the Woking track.  The section between turns 10 and 11 (Duke Street) has been pedestrianised in a way that would preclude it from use without some major work.

As long as the pedestrianisation didn't introduce any physical barriers I wouldn't say that is a problem. Part of my track (Exeter) is semi-pedestrianised with buses being the only traffic permitted. Because this means the road is still accessible I considered it fair game.

It does.  They have removed the road completely.

Unfortunately, Norwich Council has installed a flower bed.

As have Woking, in fact several raised flower beds with a narrow paved path winding between them (and not usable for vehicles before anyone suggests that!)

What did they use? Tank traps?

Pretty much, yes.  The work has only recently been done so it doesn't show on Street View yet.

Problem solved!  PAYR will reimburse the Council!
