As I am reserching about the 1988 Birmingham Superprix epsecially with the BTCC taking part in the qualifying session before the race was cancelled later in the day because of time constraits caused by the F3000 race. I got an incomplete qualifying timesheet put together from the Motoring News article of the BTCC qualifying written by Gwyn Dolphin.

I got in touch with him as he is based in Australia now and he doesn't think he got the original timesheets or reports anymore. I decided to go through the entry list of the BTCC teams that took part in the qualifying session and see if I can contact the teams or owners. I could ask the drivers but usually they don't keep the timesheets themselves and it is down to the teams to collect the information themselves.

Team Toyota GB/MIL Motorsport - who is the owner and where they are based?  - Was the MIL outfit used to be from CHMS? (Chris Hodgetts Motor Sport)

Terry Drury Racing - he died in 2017 and I got in touch with his son very recently and awaiting a response.

Eggenberger Motorsport - lost all of the documents in a basement flooding unfortunately and Rudi died in 2018.

Alan Docking Racing - Got in touch and awaiting a reply - http://www.dockingengineering.com/

Roger Dowson Engineering - Passed away in 2012 and his son, Simon Dowson owes Delta Motorsport.

Industrial Control Services Ltd. - is that an Andy Rouse entry for Robb Gravett? - An Rouse entry so won't get anything from Rouse unfortunately.

Brooklyn Motorsport - were they based in Redditch near Birmingham? - Ran by Tim Hill and he got a car business somewhere.

Tom Walkinshaw Racing - they are based in Australia but who is the best person to ask?

Mike Newman - got a Facebook account but tricky to get in touch with.  - A Graham Goode entry

Graham Goode Racing - Through Facebook and his website of his company in Leicester and no avail.

Asquith Motorsport - where can I find Richard Asquith?

CAM Shipping/Banyard Cars Ltd. - No info of the team at all. - An Rouse entry so won't get anything from Rouse unfortunately.

Graham Hathaway - got a Facebook account but tricky to get in touch with.

Andy Rouse Engineering - got in touch with Andy Rouse and he was very helpful but no info about the 1988 BTCC event though.

Trident Motorsport - driven by Nick May in his Maserati, that's all I know.  - Ran by ex-Lola engineer, Tony Gale and still on the lookout for him.

Prodrive - got in touch a few months ago and no luck.

Steve Morse Motorsport/Demon Tweeks - No information, only Roland Ratzenberger in his BMW M3.

Specialist Cars Aberdeen - Should I contact the car saleroom but I doubt they would keep their information?

Demon Tweeks Racing - got in touch with Alan Minshaw's son and nothing. Who is the team?

John Maguire Racing/David Sutton Motorsport - Not sure where to start

Chris Hodgetts Motor Sport - Last week Chris told me all of his paperwork were lost in a container fire years ago.

Tony Crudgington - Nothing of him since 1988.  - Still around in CTCRC in these days.

TOM's GB - Are they a Japanese team now? Or they still got a base in the UK?

North Essex Motorsport - Got in touch with Barbara Cowell (now Babbage) and nothing from her.  - Ran by Julian May, who is he?

AGK Motorsport - No information on Google.  - Possibly Geoff Kimber-Smith's own outfit? How to contact him?

I hope someone will be able to help me for more information of the teams and possibly a way to contact the owners. Thank you and happy new year.

Eggenberger....Might be worth asking Steve Soper [he drove for them] who to contact

Edit - Probably not if all documents lost in a flooding !!  Still, Steve may remember....

Edit - Going from a different angle...which club organized the Superprix? Might be worth contacting them to see if they have their records archived, they may be able to supply all you need.....

Specialist Cars Aberdeen is John Clark - try him or his son Chris through Facebook
Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) - try Ken Clarke though Facebook, he was probably there

Asquith Motorsport will be Richard Asquith - he's still around or contact Karl Jones or Richard's daughter Helen via Facebook

Jerry Mahony posted here for a while, as ‘boatsman’. He last posted in 2013, but a PM to him should generate an email alert, if the email address he used is still valid.

I think that it might have been the BRSCC that organized the Superprix in 1986. I'm certain that they were involved in later years.

BRSCC and the Birmingham City Council organised it. I am in close contact with the head of the Road Race Team and he said he got nothing on the 1988 BTCC timesheets. BRSCC is the same, I might try again with the BRSCC in a different angle.

I got in touch with a person who is good friends with Rudi Eggenberger and Steve Soper but never got back to me. I will need to find a different way to contact Steve Soper myself.

Thank you for the suggestions, I will have a look tonight. Ken Clarke got in touch with me about a Mod Saloon last year, I will get in touch again.

Who organised the BTCC in 1988? I know a person named Spencer Hall organised it in 1987 but not sure about the other years though.

Keep going everyone, some good suggestions so far.

Also the CAM Shipping team with Lawrence Bristow as their driver, is it run by Andy Rouse? As according to my research, it is run by Banyard Cars Ltd or is it a sponsor?

As a very long shot you might try TSL timing I know as MST they were the official timekeepers for TOCA/BTCC ( I helped them out with PCs etc in my Corporate life)
Tony Daff or Eric Cowcill might be able to point you in the right direction

I have contacted Tony Daff through the TSL/MST and he said all of the timing sheets in the past were paper copies and floppy disks. They got thrown into the skip sadly. I could try Eric Cowcill, what is his contact details please?

Does he still work there? As according to some companies websites, he is not a director anymore?

Bigears

I've lost direct contact with Eric over the years...If Tony doesn't have the info then I'd doubt Eric would.

Sorry

If Tony doesn’t have it, then Eric doesn’t have it.

Possibly the same incomplete info here?

http://touringcarrac...Birmingham.html

It is the same info as I posted it on Ten Tenths years ago and the person responsible for that website collected the info and put it on his website. Thank you though.

I got in touch with a mechanic who worked in the Trident Motor Sport and he can’t recall a lot. He said that the team was run by a guy called Tony. He can’t recall his last name. Who is this Tony person?

Recently I reread an old 1988 BTCC TenTenths-thread - you and I contributed by the look of it - and the name of Tony Gale turnes up in connection with The Campari Maserati. Gale was apparently the Maserati importer in the UK at the time. The name of Roger Eccles was also mentioned as being part of the running of the team, himself having raced a Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 in British production saloon car racing in the mid-1980's, including at least one Silverstone Tourist Trophy.

The chap I am in contact confirms it is Tony Gale and I am doing some detective work at the moment. Thank you for the other name, I will see what I can find. Thank you for your help, I hope you can help me further on.

Just to let you know I have finally got the 1988 official timesheets of the BTCC qualifying session.

I got in touch with an ex-BTCC team owner and he was extremely helpful in providing me the timesheets. Thank you for your help in this thread everyone!

EDIT>> And this has ended my 11 years search for the official timesheets, now I am going to move on to the timesheets of the 1986 Birmingham Superprix as a lot of the sessions were cut short because of delays, accidents and the remnants of a hurricane!
