Imola just pulled one of the worst GP names I've seen
"GP of Made in Italy & Emilia-Romagna" what the hell?

Judging from the total shambolic mess that the Australian Open tennis has turned into, F1 has dodged the bullet very nicely by postponing Albert Park!
More than 500 (out of some 1,200 who were controversially charter flighted into Oz) of the players and back-up staff are in isolation.

6 out of 20 F1 drivers have had or have the virus so far, out-infecting the world by a factor of 10... solid reason for not flying all over the world.

Don’t know if posted elsewhere on the forum, but looks like we will race in Portimao again in May.

Texas has dropped all covid restrictions, including masks and gatherings, so presumably the US GP will go ahead with a full crowd? (US has 500,000 covid dead)
And Pres. Bolsanaro of Brazil - a sort of cut-price Trump - has told Brazilians to stop crying about covid and get on with it,.so presumably the Brazilian GP will be run as normal? (Brazil has 260,000 covid dead)

23 races is way too many. Feel for the mechanics and engineers
liberty clearly are wanting to americanize F1 too appeal to Brad Chad and Bud from the Nascar crowd with the amount of races

Portimao confirmed for 2 May https://www.autospor...r-2021/5589355/
Which was going to have 8h Portimao a few weeks before, which would've helped bed the new tarmac in, although admittedly it was still okay last year.
8h Portimao now cancelled though, so the track will remain quite slippery.

That's a good thing, no?

I suppose! I like fast(er) tracks though, nice to watch the lap times come down. That's a good thing, no?
There was an ELMS 4h race after F1 last year, so every little helps.

I think this year it's more like they don't expect all the races to go ahead as scheduled.

Yep this year's season will be similar too last years depending on restrictions lifted in other countries later in the year if that happens. Even though the amount of races they are aiming for is overkill imo 18 races is more then enough
