You could probably get a gaming PC for a steal on your country's equivalent of facebook marketplace. There's a lot of folks with more money than sense who just let things go and don't really care that they are taking a loss. I've seen people score entire gaming rigs this way for shocking prices.  It's usually people in your situation giving them away. More money than sense, so they bought an expensive set up, but they have the wife, the kids, real life so they barely use the equipment and then give it away for a steal on a local p2p marketplace.

Nope. Been looking for two weeks for a rig, stuff I am interested in is $2100 all in with taxes brand new and lowest selling price is $1500 with no warranty on the used market.

The Varjo Aero's price has just been cut in half. Probably in response to the Bigscreen VR set.

He's talking PCs you're talking rigs

I mean both. Whatever is for sale, buy it  .

but Alfisti said the P2P marketplace is poor where he is, so it's a moot point I guess.

GT7 is absolutely fine on console and there's nothing wrong with console gaming. I just shudder at the thought of ACC because of I've heard Kunos treats console support like an afterthought and the online community for console multiplayer with that specific game is smaller than PC.

So I am in a discussion with a local dude selling the following......

- Fanatec Gran Turismo dd pro premium bundle 8nm booster

- Load cell pedals

- Gran Turismo pro wheel

- Next level f-GT simulator cockpit

He is asking $2,100, absolutely firm, all gear looks in great shape but no warranty.

Brand spanking new all but the cockpit is under $2K and there's a TON of used cockpits for sale in great shape for under $300. I broke this math out for him, we had a very civil discussion with no angst. He understood me but said he would hold. Makes zero ****ing sense.

Smells fishy, shouldtn't Turismo DD still be so new that warranty is still on. Even if not that bundle is about 1500€/$ new.

1 year warranty just expired. The bundle is $1800 plus HST here so $2K.

I'm still saving up, but I think the Asetek Simsports La Prima bundle (12nm DD, wheel and pedals) for €1350 is a no brainer if you're looking for a good wheel and pedals.

I feel fortunate to have retained everything (minus a G27 shifter) that I have collected. My first wheel was a Logitech Driving Force Pro. It's pretty interesting to see the development of hardware over the years particularly with home motion becoming more accessible.

I want to get back into sim racing. In VR. I've given myself 2 years to save up to buy some good stuff.

I stumbled upon a used Sim-Lab P1-X rig with an L-TEC seat for just under €500 so I've already gotten that.

Next on my list:

Ridicilously expensive gaming PC €3000 (hopefully that's enough)

Asetek La Prima bundle (wheel and pedals) €1300 https://www.asetek.c...a-prima-bundle/

Bigscreen Beyond VR headset (about €1500 with the needed trackers)

I'm probably totally nuts.

Slowly getting there.

The Asetek bastards have changed their prices,

Still going for a La Prima wheel base but thinking about the Forte button box and a round leather wheel to go with it.

But I read about their pedals and most think they're too striff. So I've ordered a Heusinkveld Ultimate knock-off from aliexpress. It's getting really good reviews so I'm pretty curious. Arrived within the week for €180 and from what I can see they look really good. Brake has a 200Kg load cell.

Ah, the Simsons/Simjacks. I was so close to getting that, but ended up going with the Fanatec V2s on Black Friday (which arrived almost 4 months after Black Friday )

This was my first experience with load cell pedals. What shocked me is that they are so stiff that I cannot really use them above 20-25% brake pressure on the Fanatec software, without my wheel stand or my office chair starting to move/lift, despite the fact they're both on caster wheels with brakes. My seating position isn't helping because with the wheels below the wheel stand raising the height of it, the brakes are a bit too high for my long legs, so to compensate I have to recline my office chair and sit in almost halfway to a formula position. I suspect this is what makes me put less pressure on the brakes than if I was in a more regular GT position, standing up.

Tldr I got load cell brakes and it made instantly consider ditching the wheel stand and get a proper metal cockpit/rig....  :stoned: Maybe next year... the computer needs updating first!

Yeah you need an aluminium rig for load cell pedals. Any other solution will have flex because of the force applied to the brakes.

Oh, forgot to mention that I already have bought a quest 3. As It’s also very much fun to use standalone and not too expensive, I thought this was the way to go to get me started with VR racing. Needs a beast of a PC though.

I have a different take on the PC's. I have not had super high end PC's and they have offered very good performance over the years. Currently running a 3 year old PC pretty much as it was purchased with a SSD and memory upgrade at the time. Granted will be swapping out the GPU in the next few weeks (PC has a 2060, yeah upgrade needed).  Nevertheless, VR performance, frame rates, stability, and so on have been all good on a single screen set up (60"). Unfortunately I have not been in the rig for some time due to a foot injury. ):

Not sure what VR set you have, but as I said before, I want to run Flight simulator / DCS as well in VR. And if you want that kind of eye candy, you need a 4090. Still running a 1050 ti at the moment.

Oh, the Asetek La Prima base and Formula wheel arrived today.  :cat:

I have an older Samsung headset (5-6 years old), which shared internals of an Oculus. If I recall correctly, at the time the choice of Samsung was price motivated but because it had commonalities with the Oculus, I felt I would not be losing anything. As far as GPU's, yeah generally agree. I'm looking at 4070's. I will be happy for you when you step from the 1050ti. That should be amazing! I do like your pedals and that price. I have read good things about the Asetek products so hopefully you enjoy them.

An Oculus rift vs a Quest 3 is quite a difference in resolution per eye, for instance. Quest 3 has 4416x2064 vs 2160 x1200 for an Oculus Rift. So obviously a Rift wouldn't need the same graphics card performance.

Yep 3,5 times more pixels so it'll be asking for 3,5 times more performance out of the GPU!
