Press release dated 14th of January, will this mean a fresh start for the auction firm? : https://www.coys.co....ngton-announced

This after lots of problems and legal issues before and after becoming insolvent in January 2004, and again in April of last year.

Some doubts seems to still be lingering judging by this article, and its comments section : https://www.prewarca...y-new-beginning

Well having dealt with the company Coys of Kensington ,some 10 years ago ,I can't say I will rush back to deal with them again.

In 1973 the then Coys of Kensington tried to out do my father on an extremely valuable car he had sold them  ,I should have remembered some 40 years latter.

I find it extraordinary that a business like this keeps coming back and people keep using them.  I guess that somehow the name resonates but not all the stuff that has gone with it.

A large part of any company's value is 'goodwill'. Coy's is a toxic brand, surely; I cannot imagine why anyone would wish to take it on, given the Sisyphean task ahead.

Given the publicity over the last ten years or more and the several changes of name etc, it is incredible that anyone would deal with them, let along people with very valuable cars. Do these people not read or even do due diligence before handing over million pound cars.  The new investors would have been better starting from scratch if they wanted to run an auction rather than buy such a tainted brand.  Add the the adverse reputation is that they have kept on one of the guys who was involved in many of the doubtful deals.  At least Chris Routledge has gone - is hhe still in hiding in Canada?  There are quite a few folk who would like to speak to him!

There are some interesting comments on posts on their own Facebook page - and the company don't even have the wit to delete the adverse comments

https://www.facebook.com/coys1919

PS Interesteing that they sill use the strapline "Founded 1919" even after the Advertising Standards Authority back in 2012 determined that this was unsubstantiated, and as such was construed as misleading.

One comment had a link to the liquidator's report, and referred to it as "interesting". Sadly the link have somehow been deactivated.....

After the arrest at Techno Classica in Essen there were feverish activity from "someone" to quench any rumours circulating on the web.

Many forum threads were removed after a quite effective campaign (!) But a few remains.

Post 7 onwards : https://www.pistonhe...h=0&f=&t=371735

Here's probably the only article remaining which describing what unfolded at Essen, and what led up to it.

Maybe it went under the radar being in French? https://newsdancienn...s-la-tourmente/

Here's a story from another unfortunate client : (1 of 3 pages) http://maranellohouse.net/coys.html

+ another connected thread that remains : https://rmsmotoring....urposes.211391/

Chris Routledge left for Canada last year and have not been seen in the UK since....
