Maybe no-one were offend back then? I am pretty sure I verbalized my request as a beg.

We live in newer time, more puritan, more offendable.

I don't know about that because as much like yesterday and today one can express their opinions both passionately and using unfiltered language.  But I suppose if you are easily offended or put off or not up for a challenge, there are other platforms where one can connect with people who are more in tune with your thinking and unwilling to grow.

How much personal growth can be gained from discussing things with people who keep rambling on about people being offended, when the only mentions of people being offended are made by the people complaining about everyone being offended in this day and age?  I would think that a basic requirement for having a productive conversation is to listen to what other people are saying, rather than putting words in their mouths.

You're the one complaining but I do encourage you to partake in healthily debates on the PC forum presuming you have interests outside F1, such as photography, gardening, purchasing a home, discussing a movie that is of interest to you or sharing what you have planned for the weekend or just posting a picture of hanging out at home in your not best look.

Of course and heck we can even debate your misguided put off comments if you are up to it?

I'm not complaining, I just made a quick comment as an aside in what used to be a different thread, and so did a number of other people.  No one set out to start a thread about this, it was just an off-hand remark. People noted poor tone as a matter of fact and didn't give this more thought.

The rest of my posts here just kept repeatedly clarifying that no, the issue here is not the snowflakes being all offended, the issue is that a bad choice of words is off-putting to people.  Given that at least four people said something to this effect, maybe it would be wise to stop for a moment and think "hmm, I know I'm not seeing it, but if so many otherwise reasonable people are rubbed the wrong way, maybe it doesn't come across like I think it does?"  Frankly, this lack of reflection and doubling down on "offended snowflake" narrative is becoming way more off-putting than careless language ever was.

While I think I can understand your position, that is your perception and one not based on reality, given that a number of PC members including myself have said otherwise.  The "snowflake narrative" gets rather boring when what one really means is that they are not up to a challenging debate.

Last word is yours.

I am not sure if we agree or not.

I am saying in times past people were able to exist and interact without every single word being up to interpretation of meaning, injustices, racism, homophobias, ageism, genderism. Which is no longer the case, Slarti laid out exactly why there were zero reason for anyone, at any time to be offended, yet here we are and some are.

I think we need to ask more questions of people joining the forum not just the Paddock Club

I find it weird that the number one motorsport site has this style of non professional workings.

... the number one motorsport site ...

I think we should leave PlanetF1  out of this.

I hadn’t realised the changes made at DigitalSpy Forums until this evening... a streamlining/removal of some of the most used parts of the forum. Gen Discussion + politics have been closed at very short notice with no real reason given.

It is preferable to keep our private discussion area private if only to avoid any trigger happy decisions that say it warrants removal as it’s Not F1. Keep it for those that actively want to see it and not for anyone who just happens upon it.

On the digital spy front, I’m sure their website traffic will drastically fall - a very curious decision.

Gee, it’s too bad I didn’t notice this thread until today... :drunk:

One thing’s fer shure, the level of fun had by Paddockistas at the expense of those put off by the “repulsiveness” of the sign by the gate has become much less riotous.

It will be under discussion amongst the moderation team.

No promises though.

But I will never beg or even ask anyone for anything

So if you don't even ask for anything in life, how does that work in practice? You just bark orders?

Pass me the salt!

Give me the check!

Give me a BJ!

Must be nice.

If you only knew what a festival of shameless prostrations and petitions for alms the Paddock is, you wouldn’t be so keen to get in. :stoned:

I second that, let's keep the riff-raff out... It should be made harder not easier to gain access.

Dunno. The moat seems wide enough and the walls high enough.

Besides, I kinda like riff-raff, as long as they’re not racist, homophobic, or misogynistic, never voted for US Prez No. 45, and they bathe & brush their teeth. :)

The rift-raft is what makes things interesting. Bathing is a foreign term to me, showering I can connect with, though I have been known to shave while sitting on the bidet. It's an educational experience never the less.

So I googled Buddy Lazier who I never heard of before and apparently he won some oval race.  As a free range kid, I always welcome learning something new.   ;)

I’m in there so it demonstrably doesn’t keep the riffraff out.

According to what criteria could you be considered riff-raff?

I think if people were offended at the (clearly tongue-in-cheek) notion of begging for entry, then they may well not like it in the Paddock Club anyway.

You likely used your moderation connections for some paddock nepotism to crawl under the fence.

We already have one RiffRaff and he works very hard behind the scenes, so we don't need any more, thank you.
