It's daft thinking, JLR are not losing money if people replicate 60/70 year old cars, in fact the opposite, they are raising the profile of the Jaguar brand.

… it is perfectly legal and well-established in law, that someone can supply panels, components etc for people wishing to repair their cars - with no fear of reprisal from the copyright holders?
3rd parties can supply replacement parts, but not complete running cars. However it is possible for a a private individual to acquire the requisite replacement parts to construct an entirely "new" example of an old car model...albiet for personal use. We see that in the US. However we have also seen the courts allow the copyright holder to prevent the construction and commercial sale of complete running new cars intended to be replicas of a unique vehicle. I believe the US case law is based upon construction and commercial sale of replicas of the unique Ford Mustang used in the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds". The courts upheld Ford's ownership of the copyright, and prevented a 3rd party from selling replicas. However there are many examples floating around, created by individuals, using readily available replacement parts, and not made for commercial gain. Would this not apply to home made replicas of a "C-Type"?
What is the status of C-Types made by the company "Tool Room Replicas" which were described as replica vehicles, but all parts were supposedly interchangeable with period original parts ?
