My single and only contribution to the upcoming season!

Seems like a good place to start; https://twitter.com/...8354571266?s=20

Sounds fast! :rotfl:

Car will also be unveiled on March 10th.

So they look to be addressing some of the cooling issues from last season. Trying to take too much from the sidepods.

Wondering about the space Mission Winnow will take on the car. They're almost gone from the Ducatis that were unveiled this week (Lenovo replaces them as title sponsor).

Is this first time in decade we are last one to show a car? And have it shown at testing non the less. I am not superstitious, but cant help but wonder if luck will be on our side this time around lol

Giovinazzi on the 2021 Ferrari PU:

"In Maranello they are positive. We don't know the amount that we will gain, especially because we don't know how much the others improved. The good thing is that at Ferrari there is a positive atmosphere, especially for the power unit"

#RTL

Mika Salo saying last year PU was power capped we might actually see Ferrari underplaying their hand and coming up with Kraken (engine that is, we all know chassis will be 2nd best at best).

So accordin to this they have spent the tokens in a new gearbox which will allow them to change the rear suspension as well. I wonder if they will follow Mercedes design introduced last year.

Also the major changes will be made in the sidepods which makes sense considering the new airbox.

He says it will have two shades of red. I wonder if he means it like it's metallic. I have doubts about how good a gradient would look.

Has there been any skinny nose rumours yet this year? If not, will this be the year we actually get one?

No. Would require token spend, which the team has already confirmed is on a new gearbox and rear suspension.

They, along with Haas, will be continuing with the fat snub nose.

Binotto saying that they have recovered a lot of speed on the straights thanks to improved engine and drag hopefully means we have a strong Q3 mode again in 2021.

There is no qualy mode anymore.

He said the same in 2020. Let’s wait for testing.

according to this, the decision to for the compressor in the airbox in 2022 has been made.
Now they will have two combustion concepts running on the dyno till June, one with the “Superfast” (hadn’t this concept been brought forward to 2021?😕) and another based on the already known technology; the dyno results aren’t entirely satisfying at the moment, so they will test the two concepts till June and then a decision will be taken, they think the Superfast is the future, but they are afraid this technology might not be mature enough for 2022 and the engine freezing, anyway in June they will decide.

Well well well......Didn't I say this freeze was stupid to agree to... The decision is contradictory to their own efforts to improve.

People will never, ever, ever learn that all these 'insider' reports about detailed technical aspects/upgrades of the Ferrari are like 95% just people making stuff up.

So, according to Sparisci on the Corriere della Sera (he has proven to have good sources in the team), the bench data on the PU are encouraging but it was expected as they started from a lower level compared to the rivals, their objective is to regain at least 80% of the “quality” of the 2019 PU (I don’t know what that means); lots of work has been done on the wings, the sidepods and on the rear end (transmission + suspension), 45% of the 2020 gap was due to that.

So are they just rolling the car out the garage on Wednesday? Very conventional for Ferrari.

Much better than the usual garbage we’ve become accustomed to.

Skeptical about seeing that much changes, feels like that would take more than 2 tokens plus the gearbox was homologated for 2020, so no one can change. Changes to the suspension then could only be outboard and not on the GB itself.

Assuming that means 80% of the lost horsepower, then that's around a 40 horsepower gain or thereabouts. That's basically the level Mercedes were at last year.

PG smilextech reported a loss of 60hp from the 2019 PU, with (as you say) a Mercedes adv of 40hp in 2020; now if that means a % of the lost power and they say “at least” 80%, it would be a gain of around 50 hp, that would very good indeed.
Anyway in a few weeks we will know.

Remember, 99% of stuff 'leaked' or 'reported' about Ferrari is nonsense.

Year after year after year of flirting with these headlines yields nothing but high expectations and misery at the failure of such reports.

Let’s hope this car is not a dud and that the new PU is a good step up but also reliable. Charles deserves a front running car, it’s what his talent merits and what the sport needs as well. It will be interesting to see what route they go down with their nose which has been the same concept since 2016! Maybe they’ll finally be adventurous in this area, it’s long overdue. As usual I’ll try not to get on the pre season hype train because this team does love to overpromise and under deliver.

@ConsiderAndGo

As an example, PG smilextech and Antonini are very reliable in my opinion, then we are all adult and intelligent enough to decide who/which believe or not and calibrate the expectations accordingly.

Aghhh!

They have already said their tokens are being spent on the gearbox and rear suspension.

The nose will be EXACTLY the same as last year. Exactly the same.

They can only mess around with aero token free.

A reduced chassis deficit and a hugely reduced PU deficit is going to be a huge upgrade, especially with Charles.

I'm not expecting wins but multiple podiums is possible.

Has there ever been less hype by Ferrari for new car? Last to present as well...really not sure what to think about it, Sainz and Leclerc seem very positive considering what was said few months back. Lets see, 2 days left...

I think they'll positively surprise this season (well positively in comparison to last year..) Wouldn't be surprised for them to have the third best car by a margin.

Likewise, but in the same token, wouldn’t be surprised if they’re 7th.

There are rumours of a two tone red/burgundy livery too. Great if true, but I have my doubts (remember the year lots of rumours were that they were launching in yellow 😂).

What time is the launch?

That'd be nice. To be honest, if they ever do a non-red Ferrari, I'd love a pure black one.

I doubt we'll see much of the rear end today but hopefully we'll see some revised sidepods and front end aero.
