Not sure that if I sold my house I could afford that! Lottery it is then...

Lucky it's not the Gurney car or the clutch would be optional.

If anyone is remotely considering bidding for this car, please do not hesitate from sending me a pm, and I will put you in contact with the son of a previous owner of Lotus 19 Chassis 653.

Just a friendly FYI/warning on behalf of 'the management'.
It would be appreciated if - as Giraffe has done with his invitation - any discussion of the veracity of this car could be confined to PMs and emails only.

What an interesting development! I have detailed pictures, taken by Stirling's chum Herb Jones of this car taken at Goodwood at Stirl's 'will I won't I?' session. Many are in the Moss biography.

Oh isn't this Lotus 19 research fun...

Well, it's approximately the correct colour...

I think you have chosen the wrong word in your request above.
An inanimate object, such as a car, cannot have, or not have, veracity.
The word you were possibly searching for is authenticity.......
Oh, veracity's not so bad, in a figurative sense at least: "the quality of being true, honest or accurate".

The meaning of words is interesting but the suppression of debate is rather more serious.

Too many quotes by George Orwell springs to mind these days, for many reasons!
Here's two however :
"The further a society drifts from the truth the more it will hate those who speak it"
"In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act"
(I know it's been debated if he ever said or wrote the latter, but it's relevant anyhow.)

Hopefully we will get to know what really happened with Lotus 19 "953" during the decades it was thought lost.

Lotus 19 "953" is possibly the best of its kind!
On a completely different matter I was watching an episode of "Only Fools and Horses" yesterday and was rolling around laughing my proverbial socks off at Trigger's broom.

No, it's a football team - count'em!

I'm idly curious as to whether, in UK consumer law, a purchaser can take action against a vendor if it can be shown that the vendor, or their agent, conspired to prevent information or opinions being widely disseminated which would have had a material effect on either the price the purchaser paid or indeed his decision to purchase in the first place.
Opinions please.

Laws on the books may have little to do with it, really just the legal action which will take place, squandering resources in court(s) whether or not that action is later determined to be legal or binding. It's the threat of the hassle from a resource-rich hassler that is used as a deterrent. Avoiding same by this forum's admins is best for this forum's users.
I don't see that any discussion has been suppressed. We've been advised where more complete information can be found. It's just not here on this platform.
Caveat Emptor + There's A Sucker Born Every Minute are wise words when considering a purchase of any sort of "collector's item". Just saying.

I believe the debate is about what "its kind" is.

The sale was yesterday.
I wonder if it sold? A little bird tells me it did not........
Well if it did, they're not telling anyone.....
Just caught up on the recording of yesterday's auction, and (allegedly) someone bid £300k which did not reach the reserve.

You'd like to think so, but there are people out there with more money than sense...........

AKA - there's one born every minute !
Human capacity to believe what it wants to believe seems to be undaunted.
I really enjoy historic racing; I just don't take much notice of the "most expensive grid in the world" type claims.

Well if you were buying a house at least you would do the searches - and not be impeded by anyone either

It would appear that their efforts were in vain.... Now the car has developed a reputation that transcends due diligence.
(I never quite understood what a vehicle with the alleged profile of 953 was doing at Silverstone Auctions in the first place?)
