Can anyone tell me anything about the DMF Special? Don Harris competed at Great Auclum in 1966 in 1598cc DMF.

Since my earlier post I have discovered that the DMF Special was built by Don Harris of Cambridge.

There is a photograph in Autosport of Don Harris in the D.M.F. Mk3, FTD at Valence.
"The over 1200 cc class was won by Don Harris in his record-breaking time of 30.44 secs."

The rear-engined car featured a Ford-Lotus twin-cam motor, and looks Cooper influenced, if not derived.
The car achieved success elsewhere: FTD at Firle, 24.02 sec, 19 June 1966;
FTD at Bodiam, DMF 1,500 c.c. #41, 29.46 sec, 19 Oct 1968 - is this a later car?
The earlier D.M.F. Mk 2 "as seen in driving tests" started showing up on the hills and lead to a switch of disciplines. "Harris intends to take-up hill-climbing seriously, and is believed to be constructing a new car specially for this branch of the sport." (Source: Autosport, Firle report, Oct 1964.)
This begs the question, what was the D.M.F. Mk1? Could it have been a trials car? Harris was a member of the B.T.R.D.A.

Autosport: "At Ditcham, Don Harris won overall in his DMF-Climax,..." "Reports next week."
Were there five D.M.F. cars (or variants)?

He was a good friend and fellow auto tester, and a brilliant driver.
DMF 1 was an auto test car as was DMF 2 but I never went to any hill climbs so cannot comment on DMF3, I think Don got fed up with ftds on auto testing and wanted something more exciting.
His garage was at Cottenham, Cambridgeshire - visited him a few times while building my Cannon.
Just a small village garage from memory, we are talking 1966.
Do you have any idea what D.M.F. stood for? I think it was Don’s Morris Ford but I could be wrong.
