So...with the demise of the team thread, is Red Bull launching a car this year?  Does RB17 deserve it's own thread?  :p

Based on the past seasons it seems that they're better at improving on an existing car than building a new one, so I would be very happy with a strong 16B!

Will be interesting to see how they seal the floor with no slots and flicks

I guess Toto is a big fan of the saying "you are only as good as your last race."

Nice try, but Mercedes will still be the team to beat (although obviously I do hope he is right).

*edit: the quotes actually arent as bad as the title had me assume. I fell for the clickbate... Still dont think that RB had the fastest car end of last season though, just because they had 1 strong weekend. Doubt RB brought that many updates just for the last race and the weekends before was still very much merc calling the shots.

Usual Toto BS.

If you ever feel like your life is useless or repetitive, remember that there are interviewers who year after year still keep asking Toto about the favorites going into each season.

Not a chance did they have the fastest car. Unless we think they found about 8ths to 1sec on Mercedes on the last weekend.

Merc was compromised by engine more than they were letting on, Hamilton was ill, and I’m pretty sure it was rumoured that they ran test parts / aero measuring devices so that they could run them at the post season test.

0.3 to 0.5 clear of the pack imo.

You also have to look how close Norris qualified to the Mercs in AD to see it wasn't RB moving forward but Merc dropping back a little in that one race....

Shhhhhhhhh. No one wants to hear that Mercedes ran compromised evaluating 2021 changes and parts as well to not use tokens. Easier to blame Lewis not at 100% and RB being better.

Doesn’t matter anyway. All that matter is if you believe RB won’t start out slow and make it hard on Mercedes to stop early development for 2022.

You do realise that the only one claiming Red Bull was stronger than Red Bull in AD are Mercedes themselve by way of their TP. The rest of the world knows better. Just the usual Mercedes underdog crap we hear before the start of every season.

I think the key to this year will be more about who switches onto the new tyres better. The indications from the few tests they had were that Red Bull got the early initiative on that, but Mercedes clearly gave the resources to overcome any issues.

But if there is a ray of hope for RBR, I think the tyres are it.

tbh I'm quite surprised anybody actually believes anything Toto says at this point.  Don't we get the same every year?

To be fair to him people would accuse him of arrogance if he came out and said he believed Mercedes would continue crushing everyone, but by pretending he believes Merc will struggle he's just coming across as insincere.  I think at this point it should be fine for him to acknowledge Merc are the ones to beat but others have shown signs of improvement, but by making out RB had overtaken them last year he just looks silly tbh

What a shock, who saw that coming. Hopefully this year will be less of an issue due to the carry over, but who knows. They'd better hope they don't run into similar issues in 2022 or they could be in real trouble.

This is just repeating what they already said last year. They already mentioned that had these correlation issues. He's not saying they still have them, just hopes that they fixed them properly and they'll have to see.

So no news packed as news basically :)

It's the nose cape, they've had it last year as well. Most teams do nowadays actually. I think it's to control airflow both towards the bargeboards and under the floor.

Was that there last year?

They should have pushed for as much exposure as possible this year as part of the deal for the power unit solution

It was the Aston Martin wings last year, I think thats exactly what they have done, on both the Red bull and Alpha Tauri

Alfa Romeo looks faster.
Boring livery as always, exact same since years.

But great drivers & hopefully a championship contender car.

The rear packaging, especially around 'Honda' and 'RedBull' looks much tighter this year.

Looks somewhat underwhelming, considering that even with the development limitations for this season you can be sure that Mercedes will show up with a spaceship of a car.

I hope I'm wrong though.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't mind the Red Bull livery hardly changing between seasons - it stands out anyways so why change it? Also, the iconic McLaren livery from 1981-96 pretty much stayed the same, and this is just another example of that, though perhaps not as iconic just yet.   ;)

The replacement of the Honda logo over the Aston Martin one isn't a surprise, though I would say that the AM logo looked better.

Compared to 2020 launch version, yea.  But they already made a really big upgrade here during last season.

Dull. RB lucky 2022 just around the corner doesn’t seem as if they have any new tricks or ideas upbtheir sleeve. I though the floor would have lead something but just seems nearlybthe exact car. Can’t be a livery launch since it’s also exactly the same bar a couple of tweaks to sponsors.

What did you expect? Of course they are not gonna design a whole new aerodynamic surface. There are some tweaks to the bodywork but more or less they use the same as last year. They don't have the time or wanna put the time in there with the rule changes around the corner. It's more of a substantial update because of the rules Anyway and most of the new bits probably are underneath
