I am sorry to have to report that Wendy died today. She caught covid while in hospital following a bad fall.

Wendy raced saloons back in the 70s and was also a member of the Doghouse and its infamous cabaret. She could sing and dance and also appeared in the pantomimes. She was acting as a consultant on the film currently in production about the Doghouse.

Condolences to her family and friends.

Loti

I’m very sorry to read this. Here’s how I remember her best, in the Mazda RX3 in 1974:

Sad to hear this.

She interviewed / kept charming control of her partner, ex GP motorcycle racer, Phil Read a couple of years ago on behalf of the Brooklands Members.

As usual, LotusElise's Speedqueens site is the go-to for a career rundown...

This is such sad and unexpected news she was a lovely person.

And one of the most delightful guests for your filmshows, I think...

What very sad news.

Sad news - she will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Very sad news, I once had a really nice short conversation with Mr. Read and her and must ashamedly admit that I had no idea she had been a racer as well until now.

On a happier note, great to see Loti, whose posts have to be among the most fascinating things this forum has ever seen.

Howden takes such good photographs! Is there no end to this gentleman's talents?

For those who were not paying attention, Sylvia Davis, at whose funeral the photograph was taken, was the widow of Cliff Davis and the brains behind the Doghouse cabaret. Wendy was one of her stars. I was chief in charge of the silly ideas department.

We had a jolly lunch before the funeral at Carluccio's in Chichester. Howden and Joy, Peter and Shirley Proctor, Denis and Hazel Carter, Lee, the film producer, Wendy and me. We only seem to get together at funerals now, the last one was a memorial lunch for Georgie Shaw and Sian Davis, Sylvia's daughter in law.

I hope the Doghouse will do something similar for Wendy when the lockdown rules allow.

Did I thank Erin [Judy's daughter] for posting the pictures? way beyond my tech ability.
