And a not so nice one. Though I appreciate the humor:
And they have form:

Perhaps the worst race suits I've ever seen.
Posted 02 March 2021 - 09:46
It's well-known that BAR were prevented from running a distinct livery on either car in 1999. What's perhaps less well known is that the drivers' race suits and teamwear were not regulated in the same way:

Well perhaps if we'd ever seen Ricardo Zonta in 1999...

Anything Jacques "I like my suits 10 numbers too big" Villeneuve wears really.

Some of the McLaren ones in 2011 were beautiful. I think they only wore some in qualifying.

well, the opposite, may not have been too becoming either:

I really disliked the 2019 Williams ones. Somehow it just doesn't work at all for me.

I feel like we need some class injected back in this thread, not sure about the suit but it's the pose and facial hair that does it for me! If you squint it almost looks like a turtleneck under

Ferrari's look like a one size fits all sleeping bag.
Better:

Minardi 2001. All black with a white strip at the top, almost no logos. Very boring, and the 2002 one is much improved

Captivating eyes! Such moody confidence. Nigel was a champion in his mind before he had anything like the results to back it up.

Another Enstone one from 2011.
They launched with these classy black suits with gold trim:
But for some inexplicable reason, they decided to invert the colours in Malaysia:
Thankfully they reverted to the black suits for the next race and never wore the gold ones ever again.

Likely that these were 'off the shelf' suits with custom logo embroidery.

I feel like I'm picking on Enstone here, but here we go again. This time in 2017, they inexplicably decided to make the drivers look like they were wearing yellow fishing waders:

This was apparently to reduce driver body heat in the sultry conditions of Malaysia.

Why doe the Ferrari suits always have a cable sticking out of them?

From memory, these plug into the car and measure the driver’s heart rate and stuff like that. I think.

I am just curious because no other team (?) does that and it always annoys me on podium pictures, etc.

I see. It made my blood turn cold when I saw it on TV the first time, so I guess it kind of worked.

So they can give drivers electroshocks during the race if they underperform, didn't help Vettel though. Its in the contract.

Vibes of Bill Gates here.

Back in 2011, Hugo Boss ran different racesuits for the McLaren drivers at a bunch of races, I think they were fan designed. Some of them were nice!
Although one of them had a flame design on it which seemed misplaced.

I expect that was how the drivers got paid - by selling space on their suits.

Mike Hawthorn beats them all.

I can almost imagine him in that pose and that race suit advertising a bottle of Sex Panther. '60% of the time, he wins every time with Sex Panther.'

When I was a kid I could never understand how Mclaren's late 90's racesuits went from looking like crumpled, grey wet messes on the podium to overly pressed, crisp and white in the press conference room. It was only later I learned that Ron had the drivers don special jackets to better highlight the sponsors after a race win - his attention to detail at times is mind boggling.
Modern day I always had a fondness for Alpinestars suits, as well as anything with simpler styling like the 2014 Mclaren ones.

Better:
Don't let anybody ever tell you again that it takes big balls to take Eau Rouge flat out in an F1 car.

I didn't realise they carried on doing that into the 2010's: https://www.reddit.c...erence_jackets/
I always recall Hakkinen looking rather comical in his. Like he suddenly gained huge muscle mass in his upper body.

Mclaren is still trying to recover from getting rid of Ron.

Yep, here’s an example. You can actually see Jensons overalls have been tied at the waist... but it appears like he’s got a crisp new suit on with sponsor logos perfectly aligned for the viewers to see - to the point they are actually on blocks to stop them foldingWhen I was a kid I could never understand how Mclaren's late 90's racesuits went from looking like crumpled, grey wet messes on the podium to overly pressed, crisp and white in the press conference room. I don't know if the jackets were extra stiff or something, but Jenson's arms look like C-3PO on that pic.
