Saying all this, it just feels a bit wrong not getting up at stupid o'clock for the first race. Sadly I think Bahrain will be first on a more permanent basis now.

There is something special about getting up early for the Oz GP...although I stopped doing that years ago. Actually don't think I've done it for 6 or 7 years now, and I used to do it every year without fail. Probably a combination of getting older and not fancying a 4am wake up to watch Merc domination. Tend to just Sky + it now and watch it when I get up.

I'll be watching the race on Sunday with a glass of wine, while posting on here and trying not to notice the mayhem being caused by my five-year-old twins.
So exciting!

Ok... so F1 @ 2am, MotoGP @ 4am, and NASCAR Bristol dirt race @ 6.30am. Yep - I ain't going to work on Monday...
The Oz time slots are basically the opposite of those of us in the states......

Saturday: pottering around house and garden depending upon the Northumbrian weather - today's been gorgeous but it could just as easily snow next week. Then the Channel 4 qualifying highlights at 18:30.
Sunday: more pottering, weekly shop, C4 highlights at 20:30.
Contrary to a recent thread, it is really easy to avoid the result if you want to.

Watch the race, write my article on what I thought, record it as a podcast, and publish it on YouTube.
Hope it's interesting otherwise I'm going to struggle ...

So everyone's starting to get really excited.
For the first time in about 30 seasons I feel no excitement. Maybe it will still come. If not, the plan is to not watch at all.

I'll be skiing Friday (conditions are still pretty good here in my region of BC), so I'll watch FP2 (the only 1 we get) when my wife gets home from work. She is a HUGE Alonso fan, so I'll have fun watching his return with her. Qualifying, we'll do together before she goes to work. I don't ski Saturdays. On race day if we can fit the race in before she starts work, we'll watch it live. If not I'll go skiing, and we will watch after she returns. No special plans for dinner in that case, just something easy to prepare, and eat in front of the TV.

The problems with this? Many, many - but mainly that there’s virtually zero chance of me getting to watch anything I want to. Unless what I want to watch is Vera, Midsomer Murders, or a 30 year old episode of Poirot. Oh and there’s no proper internet, either. So if I want to find out the race positions I’ll probably need to find a pub. Oh wait.

Someone should make a build-up thread already
